Team Oz entered the Oz Demo car into the DB racing at the Brisbane AutoSalon for fun, and to our surprise, for affordable products it did really well. In Brisbane we hit 139.1dB and at Melbourne AutoSalon we acheived 143.1 in the Street Max class.

AH yes, I was one of about 5 guys trying to hold this car together during that 143dB run... actually, if you wanna include yourself Rob, that's 6! hehehe
Nice work guys. And like i said to you over the weekend... 143dB for entry level gear... you should give yourselves a pat on the back.
Very impressive smile.gif

But it has no back seats..........

A car at BAS in Street A, hit similar numbers from his every day system, using a pair of $229 10" subs and one $599 amp in a small music box. That's impressive. smile.gif

143 from four 12s with no back seat is simply not that impressive imo.

It is a great looking install, I've told the boys from OZ that myself. They just need to ditch those girly 16" wheels and go for some 19s! smile.gif

onya phil! and good work to th!e guys who put together the OZ demo car and for getting it out there
Shieldsy
cars looks great guys.
great to see demo cars getting put on the meter!
APS
Ill chuck my laser next time around with 6 12's smile.gif. That sucker is loud with 4000rms up its ass end smile.gif.

In Adelaide as a muck around burp sitting in the car to test the meter it did a 143.5db on lab at half volume smile.gif. Not bad for a demo car smile.gif

And all the gains are on 0 smile.gif.

But anyway that Treo car its a nice install and those numbers from the tubes are pretty good guys. So good luck.

If you want some more numbers how about a sponsorship for a Street A car smile.gif.

It has nothing to do with the gear it has.

This is the SPL forum.

143 in Street Max 3-4 isn't impressive, why should I pretend it is?

Hopefully, if I keep stirring them up, they'll build something really loud and we'll have some competition for a change! smile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gif

ITS NEVER 2 LOUD
big calls here here Phil, an puttin 19"s on it aint gunna make it any louder tongue.gif biggrin.gif

Phil Since when have you competed in Street Max 3-4?

Only Team Shonky can Make the claim to Australia's Loudest street Max 3-4 car for both 2004 and 2005... And No doubt 2006...

Either way i think they have done well to actually take a "demo Car" that was obviously not built for spl and put it in the lanes just because they can!

WELL DONE and we will catch up at finals Bass Mobster...

Looking good, is it true that OZ Audio Matrix series Subwoofer are made by the boys from Image Dynamics??
Directed Aust.
Is it any wonder distributors don't metre their cars? Leaving themselves open for critisism as above. Well Done Team OZ.
I recall a BA Falcon 4 12" in a sealed box full cutom install and 1 amp pulling 144... something a few years ago....

We all know that meter loud and music loud can often be world's apart, so it's not really that important in the big scheme of things.

But they started this thread boasting about their numbers.......

We don't have to stand around patting each other on the back all the time, we don't need to be PC all the time.

I get bagged all the time and I couldn't give a toss. I don't live in "magical fairy land" where every thing is all love and smiles and candy hearts.

It wasn't built to be an SPL car.
It was entered just to see how it would hold up.

They decided people might be interested in knowing how they did.
Not in seeing if they were Australia's loudest car, or how well the competition was doing, or whether they planned on strapping 50 more amps in.

Seriously Phil, wake the f*ck up sometime, this thread wasn't a "look how good our scores are" thread. Maybe you're just too blind to see that. smile.gif

Go back to your "Hand-built in the USA is better" DD products that have now magically become, as soon as the amps are made in Asia, "we get a lower return rate on Asia products than USA".
You just flip/flop from side to side, your opinions change to suit the products you're selling, so I have little respect for any of your opinions Phil smile.gif

Especially when you continue to trumpet DD as the world's best SQ and SPL woofer, at the same time smile.gif
Once you scrap DD and start bringing in a new brand, will they be the world's best too?
You seem to be just incredible sometimes Phil, you are always bringing in the BEST brand at any given time.

I wish I had such an amazing record. Then again, a DD sub hasn't won IASCA yet, so maybe you should keep your mouth shut about a few of the claims that DD Salesman Phil goes on about.

At least Treo are building a nice show car and letting us know how it went. I assume that if you entered one of your SPL cars in the SQ comp and then posted up the results, we could bag the crap out of how crap those scores were? Even though you might've done it for fun? You're a bit thick sometimes Phil.
DD Phil
Take your personal insults somewhere else, I'm sure I'm not the only one sick of hearing them.

Phil

Considering I've never paid anyone else out, I doubt it.
Try to think of it as advice rather than insults Phil.... I'm sure you can see what I'm talking about on some level smile.gif

I'm a tad disappointed I didn't get to see the "old" reply before you erased it all. I assume there was something a bit longer before wink.gif
DD Phil
How am I flip-flopping?

I've said for the best part of 5 years that I've been on CAA that would I prefer made in the USA. I’ve lamented the trend of increasing off-shore production.

I've been out-spoken regarding my quality concerns. Two years ago, during the development of our amp range, I argued this point. However, fiscal realities necessitated the move to Korean manufacture. The US made prototypes were 50% more expensive and not as good. I didn’t believe it.

As I've said elsewhere, perhaps I wrong? I’ve seen some things that have surprised me.

If the time ever comes that I’m wrong about anything, I'll consider admitting it. smile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gif

Back on topic; 4 woofers and no back seats, SQ doesn’t really spring to mind, and this is the SPL Forum.

I cant see how bad it is that Phil is promoting DD subs, records show that they r probably the best subs for spl. So wats the problem?

For starters, Phil... all I was saying to Rob about this car WHICH it's original intention was never built to compete in ANY SPL comps whatsoever, for the fun of it, they threw in their car and they managed to get a 143dB out of entry level gear. THAT is what I find impressive. NOW, if you want to put your money where your mouth is and build an entry level DD car with 4 12s and use the same amount of power that the TREO boys are running off each sub, well then get off this PC now and build it and I'm sure the boys will meet you at a competition in times to come. JUST for the fun of it.

And be careful you don't get confused between the words "stirring" and "criticism"

How about when he tells you they're the best sub for SQ as well? smile.gif

I agree with Tiger. I think it's quite clear from the fibreglass box design that this was built to be a show car not an SPL car. I don't see any big flat MDF walls with huge slot ports, do you?
Tiger
Thank you stazed.. display purposes only...
and WOW... 143! (claps hands)... they weren't chasing records with this car. They were getting eyes on the entry level stuff... that is all.
If Team Oz were gonna build an earthshaker.. I'm confident they'll go about it in other ways wink.gif

But guys with $1200, two 10" every day systems are louder.

How is a show car with four 12s and no back seats more impressive???????????

Phil
Tiger
2 x ENTRY level 10s at $1200??? Phil, who the hell does that?
And for the last time... FOR WHAT THOSE SUBS ARE!!! that is impressive... I couldn't care less if it didn't have any FRONT seats in it. They are the budget pack in a non SPL tuned enclosure and the got something over 140!
Like I said... get a car with no back seat and 4 entry level DDs and then we'll see who MORE impressive if it matters so much to!

Forgive me for being direct, but I honestly think you are blowing this out of the water when it is a general comment to make... general comment meaning small talk.... a small gesture.

As I said from the beginning.

Their car: no back seats, FOUR 12" subs; how many amps? Cost?????????????

Other car:

2x 10" subs, 1 amp, $1200 total cost

Small, everyday box

2 ohm load

Single $120 battery

Back seats

Baby seat

===LOUDER.

Your challenge has been met.

OK, I did.

Just for laughs we stuck some more power into the two $229 1010s in Mark's Excel. He uses a 2 cube box made for his old MTX 12", with a new face put on to fit the single coil tens.

He had several runs at the Autobarn finals, recording 145.5, 145.6, 145.7 and he went on the win the "A" final with 145.4.

Not bad for $458 worth of woofers in a daily driven car with a music box.......but he did remove the pram this time. smile.gif

However i will say this...

Was the Excel built for show aswell?

I think not, and thats the whole point of Bass mobsters origional post....
