alot of talk has gone on about sub tests.
spl x sub vs y sub.
i think at finals we should do some tests in a street "test car". with a solid voltage setup... maybe one of the ss cars or the such may be able to help with this side of things?
i'm happy to supply an atomic ap spl 12" dvc 1 to the tests.
and i'm also happy for anyone else to supply a box if they aren't happy with the one i build.
as for the amps i can supply an amp 3kw able to burp down to the .5 (e audio) and also 2 ohm.
the reason i think to test the subs at different loads is to see the difference when more power is put into the woofer.
any others willing to put their woofers up for the test?
alot of talk goes on about how great different woofers are so now the chance is here to see if your gear can cash in the cheque your mouth has wrote.
please don't fill this thread with crap either..

i am well aware of the factors that will effect this test with the box design and size and the such but for those of us that have thought of this in the past it is impossible to have it perfect and i believe that this would be the most ideal situation.

Im happy to use the Crx with it's st c setup (2batteries) and it already has e's in it, what more could you ask for, we just need a new box for 12's or whatever the case maybe...

How about a 99Z smile.gif

i think they want slightly more precise testing than 'look at the world records' <_< and who cares about the world records.. it doesnt really come into consideration in sat.. ID MAX vs Boston G5 spl comparison.. many other subs out there that people would like to see how they fare up in the whole of things.

Well, I could ask Shieldsy to kindly try strapping my E's to his and see if its only one that won't strap. smile.gif

You could, but you wont be at finals..soo i guess i would have to do it for you i think, cause im just such a nice person and all that....
Shieldsy
i'm happy to have you include a 99 into the test phil. feel free to have a 9512 and 3512 also if you want. a 3512 would be a fair comparison as they fall into the same price bracket as my atomic ap spl gear. i've already done a test with the ap spl's vs 9512's and would be interested to see a comparison in a different setup.
and cruiser that sounds good. single 12" setup is what i would prefer as it's simple and easy to replace the sub over.
i of course hold no responsibility for any damages that may occure during the testing of the subs..
please don't fill this thread with the usual ego crap as well guys.. time to put your money where your mouth is peoples!

Nice idea but takes time and effort to do properly.
Comparing the same amount of power into each one is critical otherwise theres no point.
Then youl want to compare each sub on its optimal box - or on the same box.

Dont forget, you dont have to do this at 150dB. Some differences will show up at 105 which can be measured by a RS SPL meter linearly.

If your looking at with alot of power is the large signal linearity - how much less dB output you get compared to what you should get (woofer sens + power)in which case youl have to use a termlab etc

ok.. thanks for the input.
but i think it's obvious what were looking for here.. but thanks all the same.
i dont' mean to be rude but can we all please read and understand whats going on here b4 we post...
when you talk about optimal box i think that those of us in the spl game know that the optimal box is highly dependant on the car... alot more then the sub.
but yes...i have stated in the post you quoted that i understand the test will not and canot be perfect it was just after i asked for this thread not to be filled with crap...
thanks again.

also it's ot looking too promising towards people putting their subs to the challenge?? maybe i need to bait then a bit more?? is everybody scared that atomic will own them or something:P
