hi guys,

i am planning to get these speakers for the front and rear of my CC lancer, i was wondering if anyone has these or can give judgements about these component speakers?

here is the specs that i manage to get ahold of, but cant seem to find tis RMS power anywhere.

Distributer: Fusion
4" Component Package - 150watt -High Pass: 3.5KHZ - Low Pass:4.5Khz - 2 way passive Crossover network - adjustable 3 point tweeter attenuator - .75" soft dome tweeter - Flush and Surface Mounting cababilities - Metallic Chrome Plated Poly Injected Cone - 1" High temperature Voice Coil - 4 Ohm Impedence - 20 Oz Magnet

4" speakers will generally struggle to play decent mid-bass.

so if you have a sub, you may notice a frequency gap.

4" for rear may be ok, but try and get 6"+ in the front smile.gif

y've already got a 5 1/2 inch signat midrange and a hertz tweeter already in the front, just want to add abit more higer frequencies, so you think another 4 4inch, and 4 tweeters (da fusion ones) 1 pair at the front and 1 pair at the rear is going to be ok?

planning on getting a 6 channel amp to power these speakers and a mono block to power my 2 12 inch subs.

what i am concern about is the sound quality of these speakers,

what would people give this set from a range of 1-10? (da fusion ones, in general)

in sq, sometimes less is more. things will probably get worse if you try and add the 4" on top of everything else.

personally, i'd can what you've currently got and upgrade to a nice set of 6-6.5" splits.

how much power have you got feeding the current front stage? what sort of amps have you got? what sort of subs?

out of ten I'd give them a 3.5.

As Stooge said they have absolutely no mid range, but 4 inchers don't usually have them anyway.

I personally find the tweeter excessively harsh and bright, and that there isn't that much detail to it.

I have these as a replacement in stock locations in a camry and I don't really rate them. They are tiring after a while, but you do get use to them. I'll personally I thik you can do better, and as Stooge said, go for 6". I think you may be pleasantly surprised.

Also remember the kiss principle Keep it simple stupid. It applies to car audio as well

^^^ yes, KISS is a good approach.

if you're after 'sound quality' - which this particular forum is about, then adding 'more' and 'different' is NOT the way to go. you'll end up with 'loud' and 'lots of treble', but it won't sound very natural or clear or reproduce the fine detail. instead, many frequencies will be doubled up - so a big peak in those areas - the more efficient/sensitive speakers will go louder than the others and not increase in volume at the same rate - so lack 'linearity' - and different model speakers have a different timbre/'sound'. all this adds up to poor sound quality.

if you want 'better', then simply change the speakers for something entirely different. and as suggested, upgrading to 6~6.5" is well worth it for the much-improved midbass (80~200Hz).

this is what i've got, what should i connect in the car and what needs upgrade, any help would be appreicated.

5 1/2 inch signat component speakers with tweeters (currently at the front)

4 inch fusion component speaker with tweeters (currently not connected)

you mentioned getting a multichannel amp for the speakers. this would probably provide the biggest, most worthwhile improvement.

i'd suggest having the best speakers at the front - presumably the signat's - and 'whatever' in the rear. then add a 4-channel amp. buy one with 'variable frequency' xover filters; most have these, but some entry-level amps don't. they may have 'fixed frequency' filters, say, fixed at 80Hz. this won't suit the size speakers you have. with 5.25" speakers, they will struggle to play anything below 100~125Hz loudly, so you would choose to set the highpass filter at 100~125Hz. 4" don't play much below 150~200Hz, so you would set the filter up around there.

i would not both installing the second set of fusion splits. maybe sell or return them.

next best upgrade would be new front speakers to replace the signat's. have the doors modified to accommodate 6~6.5"; then probably move the signat's to the rear if you want to improve the sound from the rears; if it's a hassle, then the 4" may be fine for your needs.

i figure the subbass is taken care of and you're happy with that?

This article explains two issues here
1) why you dont want heaps of speakers anywhere. Cancellation, unless setup VERY carefully

2) Why you shouldnt use 4" over 5", or better yet, 6" speakers

Other people use 4” component speakers, with a 12” subwoofer.
4” wont play below 200hz easily, and sub’s playing up to 200hz will be a little muddy and, again, directional, so you have a big hole in the mid-bass between 100-200hz where things either don’t exist, or aren’t clear. Badd bass sq.

Directional means you can tell where the sounds coming from. Hence, if the subs playing up to the lower limits of the 4" speakers, its going to start making things sound like they are crap, muffled, and coming from the boot smile.gif

BASICALLY.
Go and have a read smile.gif

I would personally look at two things to solve your "lack" of high range sound

1) New splits
2) Equalisation. Whether from a headunit, or from a seperate eq.
