Hi guys.

I'm sure many of you are studying for exams at the moment, and I was just wondering if you have any tips etc to get you through them? Also what exams are you doing?

Me I like to break it up during the middle of the day by going to the gym, drinks heaps of water etc.

By the way has anyone else done the CA at the moment. I'm doing foundations.

Well i've finished yr 12, and doing 2nd year uni...
Exams to me are "nothing".
There's so much hype towards them at a younger age (eg: yr 12 exams), and it's so much bs. Relax, don't get stressed. There is life after exams, whether you pass or fail, if you havent done any work during the year, if you dont know your crap, then your result is almost obvious.
If you've done work during the year then you should have no problems.

Now by all means, i am no model student. I am a slack ass, and a minimalist (do bare minimum work requirement).... so take my advice with a grain of salt.

Anyway, if you are suffering a little stress, go for a drive. I find it relaxing, calms my nerves...

Not so much that I'm stressed, just finding it difficult to get the answer that the institute is looking for. WIth them there is no leeway either side. It is either right or wrong, and the questions are fairly involved.

Already done the whole uni thing, but this for some reason appears to be different.

CA bites the big one. glad it's over and done with.

for CAF, me and a mate submitted pretty much exactly the same assignments (group ones).

we got 12/20.

he got 8/20.

the marking systems of the ICAA leave ALOT to be desired

i just enrolled in a Masters of Tax. another 4 years (part time) of exams. lucky me sad.gif

I liked to kick start the day with a cup of coffee and a banana.. banana's help you think. Last minute revision helps, last minute cram doesnt.
Dont agonise about what MIGHT be asked in the thing before going in.. and afterwards dont hang around with everyone and discuss all the Q's and answers you gave and such 'cos it'll only get you down. Go have a slice of cake or whatever and chillout for a while. If anyone askes how you went, just say "I think I went alright" and leave it at that. No point beating yourself up about it until you get the results.

Wow, im glad its not me doing this. Sounds stressful, but just wanna say a big "goodluck" to those doing exams or have recently finished them.

Know what you mean about the inconsistencies. I did the same with my gf in our EP. I got 13, she got 16... go figure

I thought the masters of tax was about 2 years part time? Work putting you through it?

Yeah I'm sure Stooge will agree in that it is definately one of the harder exams going around out there. That and that there is absolutely no leeway like in a uni exam. THere is either a right or wrong answer.

He's doing it part time as he said smile.gif so its double the time,it becomes 4 yrs in total.

I finished with my exams 10 days ago..so fun time now till march '06 laugh.gif I'm doing double degree for Electrical and computer engineering/Business (Banking Finance) takes 5 yrs sad.gif

Tips before the exam: listen to jazz for 1/2 hr before exam..its relaxing ur nerves and calming ur brain down. (well it helps me to relax)

Tips during studying: Take a break every 2hrs study not too long, like 15 mins drink plenty of water, its good for ur brain wink.gif

Dont mean to piss in my own pocket, but when my mates are agonising over questions after the exam, saying "oh i might have just passed", I'm the one sitting there thinking "I f***ing killed that exam". Really confident this year about my results.

I dont really do anything when studying, take breaks every 3 or 4 hours and just drink heaps of water.

How good is it being finished! Boozing up all the time and making crap loads of cash working. Ahh summer, it was a long time coming, but im loving it so far

well Uni exams, all you really need to do is the past papers.
I usually just read through the stuff once. And then tackle the past exam papers. All 4-5 years of them. Then you'll know how to do the questions. Usually they just put different numbers in the question or even just recycle questions.
DrEvil
I was lazy and didn't study...

But it was relaxing biggrin.gif

Tiny bit different to the CA as I'm sure Stooge will testify, but past exam papers do help. Anyway it's over for the next couple of months. I'm heading on a holiday... biggrin.gif

well all my mates have finished TEE exams and hardly any of them studied anyway so we jsut boozed it up each weekend and partied. but i still have two weeks of tafe cos they extended our course an extra 2 months to cover work we would cover next year in an apprenticeship anyway!

if your going to TAFE exams are easier and they are easier on marking which is good:P i never got good marks at school even when i knew what i was on about because i never knew how i should write it for the marker and i was never good at writing long bs essays. straight to the point for me, got same mark as my gf atm n she wrote 2-3 times as much as me biggrin.gif
