hey

yesterday at the latest Vic [CAASQ] SQ comp, the new Eclipse demo vehicle - fully loaded Toyota Tarago - made an appearance, and what a vehicle! one of the most impressive, drool-worthy demo vehicles i've ever seen, loaded with eclipe gear and full fibreglass-2pak job. amazing!

but what got me curious were the new class D fullrange amps, using eclipse's 'icepower' technology. google provides no useful links on any reviews or opinions, so i'm just wondering if anyone has heard of these featuring in any high-end SQ cars. i don't expect any in australia, but maybe they've been in use overseas, say the US or parts of asia?

they looked great, and their compact size appealed to me. not a big range of amps - 2-channel, 4-channel, monobloc - but enough to get by.

i've no idea on pricing either, but wondering if they'd be competitive with my audison VRx amps. maybe, maybe not, but it does have me thinking. biggrin.gif

i dont think there relesed yet, think next month or january so i doubt there would be much info as yet.

im guessing there "icepower" would be a veriation of the "t" class amps.

There's a bit of info floating around that site about the technology...

Love the Carbon Fibre look....

yeah, the black/carbon finish looks tough and cool!

thanks JohnL: that link is interesting. if B&O have adopted the topology, it can't be bad!

Looks to me like Crown's Balanced Current Interlacing (BCI) class amplifiers.

how about something like this shiny? http://www.xtant.com/html/products/xtant1.1i.cfm

absolutly tiny, they are a mono block and supposed to sound pretty nice, doubt they would be as good as the audison's but with 9 of them running all your full range speakers the boot would look funky..

those new Eclipse amps certainly look nice..

heres a pic of the amp array in the Tarago..

They are not yet released into the country and in fact there was quite a delay on the build of the car while waiting for the prototype amps to arrive in the country.

They will be released shortly as part of Eclipse 2006 range.
PartyJase
you sure they aren't released yet? smile.gif

bit of a PITA that they dont have HP filters on the competition range, only a subsonic filter up to 60hz. works great if your front stage can go that low otherwise kinda stuffed.
look to be sweet amps nevertheless. get 4 of the da6213's and give 250wrms to each speaker in the front stage and 1000wrms to the sub. probably overkill meh

They are released this week. The CAASQ guys were fortunate to get them VERY early smile.gif

im quite interested to see how they perform now.
however slightly worried that a 2x250w class d amp needs to draw 100A
