"It has been proven that imaging is primarily related to the midrange positioning and placement, while the tweeters add life, ambience and a sense of space to the sound stage. More important, in order for the sound to be totally correct, dynamic and transparent, it is recommended that the tweeter and woofer be mounted close to one another. When installed correctly, the transition from woofer to tweeter should be seamless and the sound should be coming from somewhere in the sound stage...," (dynaudio web installation guide, 2006)
ok so... does that mean that the old driver in the factory door and tweeter on the dash/piler is gunna sound worse than if the tweeter is placed in the door next to the driver..?

grab some blu-tack try it and tell us. What sounds good to us might sound like bum to you and vice-versa. personally i have my boston tweets on the corners of the dash firing up at the windscreen. Prior to this i was using coaxials. raising the tweets definatley raises the soundstage. Do you plan on competing? Maybe do a search as this has been covered a few times before

speaker placement is purely based on personal preference because somewhere along the line u r gonna have to make compromises.
i always have the tweet and mid close to each other, especially wen running low tweet xovers like @ 2000Hz and below. personally i think that sound height is least important of all the imaging factors. but thats just my opinion. i dont mind if the sound is @ chest height rather than eye height because everything else is so much better.
in sayin that tho, i plan on @ some stage mount the mid and tweet on the dash in my next install. i have 3 way splits so i can do this. add some TA to get the stage in the right spot and have a go from there. but that is wat i think will sound good to me in my car, could be completely different to u.

Midrange and Tweeter has to sit next to each other and the best position would on the dashboard simply because they sit almost on the same level with your ears... and definitely create a better sound stage...
The best angle for tweeter is the right tweeter facing the driver's nose, the left tweeter facing the front left passenger's nose
