Hi - just wondering wot u all think about the above set of speakers? i havent heard DLS speakers b4 and would like a comparison of these versus say Dyns, and focals K2ps which i have heard.

Thanks
Audio Express
very bright set of speakers. female vocals come through really well on them.

what do you listen to mainly?
Pyroay
I have the Dyn's Sys 360 (3 way) in my wifes car and have heard the K2's and i prefer the DLS to both of them.

Very nice sounding speakers The Ultimate series are more natural in the midrange to tweeter transission area and the Ultimate Iridium are better agin if you have the extra $$

Have you heard the Dyn's or Focals yourself?
joey_kev
I used to have Focal Polykevlar, have listened to Focal 165K2P and currently have Dyn 240GT

I have to say the Focal 165K2P is very impressive but a little too bright for my liking
I would still choose the Dyn over the focal..Dyn have very nice warm sound for everyday listening
Pyroay
Agreed Dyn's over the focal much warmer and also smoother through the midrange both in the 3 ways with the MD140 ad the 2 ways 240GT or Mk 2.

The DLS is more accurate in the upper midrange and trebble as well and IMO has it over both the Focals and the Dyn's.

I don't see what relevance this has to the topic. Perhaps you should start your own thread.

Had the pleasure of listenign to the DLS ultimate 3 ways.

Definetly not my cup of tea. Didn't sound 'real', but that could have been due to the lact of completed installation.

The only time I listen to the Dynaudio 3 way's they defiently sounded better, but they would have had 10x the amount of time and $$$ put into their install.

Sorry to drag up an old thread..

Dave - You talking about Viktro's ultimates or the Iridiums DC had in his car for a while?

I have heard both systems in well installed cars and both sound very nice and smooth. I thought the DLS sounded better in the upper midrange and transision into the highs and this may be due to the tweeter. Both Dyn and DLS use dome mids which look very similar in construction but the DLS tweeter I have found to be more detailed and seems to have a better freq span. The MD100 Dyn tweeter isn't as good. Of course the MD130 or MD330 might solve that problem but then that is a $200 or $1,000 upgrade...

ooh, im wondering about the same thing vinski smile.gif

do you know where to audition some DLS?
brady123
Not sure about in Perth but I think there is only one place in Vic at the moment (A&P Electronics in Traralgon) and possibly another in Phatt Audio but Im not sure on that. The dealers seem to be few and far between so good luck.

i believe A&T in perth have DLS on their demo board, but not sure which type

I saw some UR36's at ALBERTS Myaree store & i believe they have some UP6's as well.

Anyone tried the UP36's? I've got a set on order, I'm doing a active front stage (When I can afford some amps biggrin.gif)
Fudd
i have listen to all of them in diferent setups.

the Dyn's can sound good but i have heard to many bad dyn setups compared to good dyn setups. they seem a little finiky to me.
im not saying the dyns sounded craphouse but just not up to what they should and can be.

the DLS did nothing for me, the midrange was very nice but lacking everywhere else.

the focals are similer to the dyn's, if there not setup well they wont sound the best but when done right they sound amazing.

the morels are nice but dont think they have what it needs to be the best but not far off it.

I just bought a set of UR36s today which are the 3 ways with the yellow kevelar cone.

You can listen to them once i get them installed, i think they are just a bit darer than the UP36
