Hey

Ok, so i got a new car (06 WRX) and i've decided i want a semi-decent stereo in it.... so here's what i've bought so far...

1x Alpine CDA-9855R Head Unit
1x Alpine 12" Type R Dual 2ohm Sub
1x Response 2x80wrms Amp
1x Response 1x820wrms Mono Block
1x Response 2x65wrms 6.5" Kevlar Splits

This was all under the reccomendation of what i've read on the forums, and what mates have said... also cos i've heard what the jaycar stuff is capable of.... and it's not super exspensive...

But basicly what im wondering now... is what wiring i should get ot link all this gear up...? im going to (with the help of another CAA member) probably make up a custom sub box for this sub (also cos my boot doesnt really fit a lot of the pre-made boxes)

Regards,

SiriX

all seems like pretty good gear, the mono is a great amp... not the best you can buy, but geez, i love mine....

I happen to have one of the super cheap auto "rampage" wiring kits, and they arent actually all that bad... but because your running two amps, i would recommend buying all the wiring individually, to suit..

the mono recommends 4AWG wire, so either run 4AWG from the bat to the amp, or 2AWG to a distro block, then 4AWG to each amp.

You should use 14/16AWG wiring for the speakers. I recommend you go to a car audio store(jaycar, similar) and pick up some car audio quality RCA leads, 5.5 metres will do. I dont know whether the 2 chan jaycar amp has pre-outs, so if it doesnt, get two 5.5m cables, if it does, get one 5.5m, and one .5m.

ill assume, since you took advice frtom here and got quality gear, you will also know how to hook it all up, with the help of your friend, so i wont go into that.

use 12AWG wire for the remote wire(thats what the mono recommends, check the booklet for the 2chan). and simply piggy-back the mono off the 2chan's remote terminal(no need to run two REM's from the HU.)

if your going to flush mount the amp. remember to set the gains *before* you mount it...

thats about all i can think of, and, yeah... good luck with the install, and let us know how it goes biggrin.gif

DON'T piggy back the amps off the RCA's...what if you want to turn down the sub while your driving because you have a headache? i'd rather pay an extra few bucks and in that situation not have to pull over the go to the amp and turn down the sub level. so definitely get two sets of RCA's.

I'd recommend either jaycar cabling or Aeropro as they are high quality at a low price...well aeropro is what i'm going with in my install and the components i have are abit more expensive than the jaycar gear so you'll know you are getting good quality cabling there tongue.gif

sorry to let you down,b ut you obviously havent used a jaycar mono, they have a remote elvel adjuster, so as long as the gains are set fine, you can turn the sub right down without having to leave ur seat.. biggrin.gif
