i recently purchased a Response 800WRMS monoblock which i have had problems with the sound so i took it back and they have sent me another one, now i picked the second amp up thisarfternoon connected it all ug again and there is the same problem..NO sound..

i have connected it all up correctly according to the manual, and theres power but NO sound. i have brougt new rca's

and i have placed my old amp back in there and that works fine so that tells me that the Pre outs on my head unit are working. this problem is really bugging me and if anyone at all could help me out i would be so greatful,

thank u so much

Try some of the following,

A different source like a cd player using line levels with a 3.5 mm to RCA cord.

Make sure the crossover frqncy isn't set incorrectly also check your gains make sure the protective circuit isn't active.

But from what I can surmise it sounds like its the amplifier again smile.gif

i have already played with the gains and crosover frequencies, but even still there should be sound coming out.. im unsure of what to do.. do u reckon i should take it back and get the response 4x150.. as i am running two subs anyway.. there may be something in my wiring configuration that could be holding it back..

NOT SURE sad.gif

are you absolutely sure that your HU preouts arent f'ed? maybe try new RCA's. make sure the amp isnt going into protection, and the remote is hooked up. crank the remote, gains, LPF(300Hz) hook one sub up only to test it..

what subs are you running? what resistance are you showing the amp? 4/2/1 ophm? is the power output too much for the subs, and cooked the VC's first off?
udloze
i have done a few things to make sure that my HU pre outs arent fried, i.e another amp, and my rca's are fine brand new and they worked with the other amp

the subs i am running are pioneer 4ohm SVC 400WRMS, the power output of the amp i think is a good match supplying around 350WRMS to each sub
udloze
is there anyway that this amp is not compatible with my subs or headunit pre outs. what are the chances of getting two dud amps. do u reckoon i shopuld just take it back and get the response 4x100WRMS amp instead it may not have all the feature of a class D monoblock but it will do the job. do u reckon that will work??

Cheers, Jarrad

well, you could go for the other one... i would suggest going there, and getting one of the techeir people, who know what they are doing with their amps, to come and have a look at the am,p IN the car, hooked up,a nd see if they know whats wrong. then, get them to test it out on another system...

its possible tog et two duds in a row... i say one more try first, if you get it to work, you will NOT be dissappoionted.

>I took it back thisafternoon and they are ordering me another!! im getting sick of seeing those people. if the next one is a dud im going to throw it through thier window nah not really.

>i took the first one to the local car audio installer and they tested a few things and said its definately the amp.

>most of my mates dont have cars or a job so they dont have any car audio other wise i would test it in one of thier cars..

>does anyone live close to Batemans Bay, the South coast. jk

>but yeah i will let u people know how i go and what the outcome is, i just hope the next one works

G'day

Have you hooked up the speaker wire to the subs correctly? If you haven't the amp will go into protection mode. I found this out the hard way aswell.

4 hours of scratching my head and then i looked at the speaker wires as a last resort.

If you get the amp going you will not be dissapointed, these things hammer!!

Cheers

yeah it was all correct.. as my other amp was working fine..

well i have changed my order anyway. to get the 4x100 it should sound good and will work probly no where near the monoblock but anyway.

has anybody had any experience with schnieder gear as i can get it eally cheap through a mate from work, io just think it may be a little cheap and of less quality
APS
You already seem to be having issues with cheap gear and you wanna go for more cheap gear.

There is nothing wrong with the monoblocks, i reckon its your install as far as what it could be i dont know, i am not looking at the installation so i cant say.
udloze
just for the time being unitl i get a job. its not the install by the way i know that. and if u would have read above i said "my other amp worked fine when i set it back up again"

i know its not the subs.
i know its not the H.u.
i know its not any other the wiring.

so im sure its the amp
APS
You have tried two which did the same thing.

Im sorry but as bad as you think response might be, i have never had two faulty out of the box.

What i'm sure streetsoundz is suggesting is that you get someone to physically have a play with the system (be it jaycar, or otherwise) and see if they can isolate the amp as well. Best of luck getting your problem sorted. If your amp is stuffed, its a rare occurance, a replacement shoudl work fine. 2 in a row is exceptionally bad luck, so get them to hook up the third amp in-store and prove its working.

Also, how are your subs wired up? 2x4ohm is 8ohm or 0.5 ohm (i think, every time i think i have ohm loads sorted i f*** it up again).

I dont think anything response would be happy pushing a 0.5ohm load, could be your problem.

the same night i found this thread a guy came into work with the exact prob you are describing, how ever we brought amp inside and tested it usining a 40A power supply and it worked just fine.

If they are SVC 4ohm's they will wire up to 2ohm or 8ohm.

If they were DVC 2ohm's they would wire up to .5, 2 or 8ohms
udloze
i have two and are SVC 4OHM
udloze
i had got hold of a manual for this amp before i brought it and it said i can have two SVC 4 OHM subs, wired one to each output
