So after a 1.5 years of saving up and buying gear its all pretty much done. The install was done over about a week in my garage with the old man's help. The sound quality is beautiful, exceeded expectations but I can tell I'll be fiddling with the crossover point between the sub and splits for weeks to come tongue.gif

Check sig for system components.

-HU to be replaced with Eclipse cd8445 soon.
-Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1 (midbass is a little bit lacking but sound deadening should help that)
-The idea for the boot was to keep it simple, easy to remove and not to hinder access to spare wheel. I know I know I'll be tidying up the wiring soon unsure.gif
-Closer look at the amp rack. Zapco Reference 350 and Xtant 6.1
-Crossovers back to back recessed into cavity behind rear passenger trim (thats not the actually bracket. Another one had to be made that went further into the cavity to allow the trim to fit back on ohmy.gif )

For the time being I am very happy with it but Dynamat and the Eclipse cd8445 will be going in soon which should improve the system greatly.

I know its nothing like the stuff that comes out of FHRX or Moorooka Northfield but let me know what you think guy

very nice amp rack !

does the baffle for those splits screw into the door metal or sit out on a pod ?
I remember the stock speakers sitting in a plastic oem pod.
mick66
Thanks dogo, the MDF baffle is just screwed onto the trim and 2 screws of the speaker just go into the baffle while the other 2 go through the trim and into threaded holes in the door metal. It isn't perfect but still pretty solid. I didn't want to be cutting the trim up, so that seemed to be the best way. Some dynamat and silcone should improve the mid-bass when I get around to it tongue.gif

Keep in mind that easy to remove means exactly that, for people other than you. wink.gif

how did u build amp rack? its great? is it just steel brackets?
mick66
Thanks for your comments guys. The amp rack is just 3mm steel with flat feet welded onto it and little feet for both of the amps. Its just 2 brackets screwed directly into the car (no false floor) with the amps themselves being the horizontal supports. Solid as a rock. I was going to get it powder coated but the place I went to said it was too small a job, so I just gave it an undercoat and gloss black over the top. The only problem with it is that the playing with the settings of the amps is a little hard, especially the Xtant.
