It also has no spyware! Plus the new version blocks known IP's of people like the RIIA (it has an updating tool too)
www.k-lite.tkYou might have programs that run at startup that put popups on randomly.
if ya in XP go into your C:WINDOWSPCHEALTHHELPCTRBinariesmsconfig.exe
and look for anything suss in startup.
if in other vers - except 2000
c:windowssystem (could be system32) and find msconfig.exe
also in your start menu go and find the "startup" part, it might have something there too.

just use mozilla.org
kills unrequested pop-ups
but you can have accept list for sites that you want unrequested pop-ups
onces you get into tabbed browsing for forums you can never go back.

You can have a look under the startup tab and see which processes are being run when your computer boots. You should be able to identify them all but ones that you can't would probably be suspcious and possibly popup programs etc.
My computer was festing with popups a while ago and I used two apps to clean it up:
Ad Aware
SpyBot Search and Destroy
Both work similarily to a virus scanner by running a scan and removing infected files.
Should be able to find them on google.

I got one of those programs to stop them - and like Trough Lolly - I still get pop ups - now even from them asking for money after it was apparently free.
Now - i ain't spastic - i did read through their website before downloading it, nothing was said about pricing. I think i got mislead - the scan was free - to fix the stuff it wasnt.
How do i get this google task bar? it sounds good...
Cheers

what i dont understand is why there cant just be an option in IE or whatever to only allow instances that YOU tell it to open, and not allow commands on webpages to work - ie, the ones that acutally control IE, like how you can program back buttons and so forth..
