Hey sorry if this is in the wrong section, please move if required.
But i was hoping someone would be able to help me out. I wanna put a couple of 12" subs in my boot but i also have a gas tank (dual fuel) so im not sure how i could do it. I was thinking of doing a false floor with the subs built in.
However i still need the boot to be practical as i need to carry tools and etc.. for work and stuff and need to be able to access the spare when needed.
If anyone has any suggestions or pics of something similar they have done it would be great.
Thanks in advance.

there is plenty of room for an enclosure on the opposite side of the spare wheel. pull the carpet down and have a look.
easy fit 1 12" or two 12's suited to a small enclosure.

you still retain your boot space and all the floor area.

Yeah i was thinking of that, but thats where i have my amp mounted at the moment to run the speakers. If i put the sub(s) there, where would you suggest to put the amp??

Do you have the subs &/or amp already? I see you have one amp already are you getting a second?

Specs/brand/model of any gear you have/want will help.

And what is it you are lookin for bling bling, SPL, SQ?

Also what is your budget just for the woofer(s) and monoblock?

We need this info to give you better advice. tongue.gif

i already have one 4ch amp for the speakers in the car. I havent got the subs yet, i have another 2ch kicker 352xi (not sure on the output, got given to me by a mate) i think which ill be using for the subs. I mainly just want to get some decent bass for my system nothing major. Looking to spend roughly $100 - $200 on each sub.

Take your budget for two subs and buy one good one. It WILL be better.

Your amp afaik produces round 140wrms bridged @ 4ohm.

How bout this:
install your amp temporarily in your boot. Velcro it to the carpet so it don't move and is easy to remove.

Go round to a few retailers and have them demo subs in your car. Easy to do as they will have a few already in enclosures.

Choose the one(s) you like best and then you will know exactly what sub(s) are being installed, the enclosure size and room left for the amp install.

Keep in mind the $400 range of subs will only get better if/when you up grade to a monoblock.

@ $400 you're in the range of:
Hertz HX300 & HXS300D
DD 2000 & 2500 series
Alpine TypeR
and the list goes on....

The power ratings for these subs vary from 500 - 1000wrms.
excl.gif You will still get a decent output on these with your 140w excl.gif especially the more efficient ones.
it just means if/when you slammm a 1000w monoblock in there you gonn be one happy camper biggrin.gif

Thanks for that ill go round to a few places on the weekend. Just one more question though. If i do put the sub oppisite the spare, where would you suggest to mount the amps?? Would it be ok to attach them to the outside of the sub box??

assuming you have the time, i suggest bulding a custom enclosure designed to suit the subs(ported/sealed, etc) and make it *fit* up against the seats in the boot snugly, ie, flush with the seats. have the enclosure finish about 2 inches shy of the spare wheel well. or, have it go "around" the well, allowing a larger enclosure while still keeping it as small as possible.. think about it...

You could also add a false floor, and cut a circle a couple inches wider than the spare(so you have like a manhole cover sort of setup) so when carpeted/vinyled/etc it fits snugly,a nd can be removed easily for access to the spare.... it would take a fair bit of time to build,a nd even more to design, and cost a fair bit, but hey... it would leave you with a fair bit of room..
