I've been in love with the Corvette for about the last 15 years and have been toting them as the worlds most ultimate car- PERIOD.
Now I have proof. The lastest in Corvettes.
0-60mph in 3.6secs, 1/4mile in 11.7.

The O/T vibe in here is so thick you can almost cut it with a knife. Need movement of this threadment.

When you are rich enough to buy a supercar, why would you go with 'bang for buck'? And everyone knows the batmobile is the ultimate car. PERIOD.

nana nana nana nana BATMAN!
But damn, a Vette Z06 would be a damn sexy car to own!

best car isnt all about straight line speed.
for instance, me personally, i'd rather have a elise over a gt3. Just as quick through anything but a straight.

Better economy too.

There is no other 'bfyb' supercar that comes close.
As fast as an enzo, at $50,000 AUD.. Yes, please.

Feb 11 2006, 02:47 PM
Yeah, tis a nice car (the Veyron) but goddamn - TOO expensive in all sense of the word - So BFB terms, its not very good. I've heard horror stories about how much an Enzo costs to service - can you imagine the Bugatti? MEEP!

Thats an F50 not an F60 (aka Enzo). F50's were dogs of cars, dodgy suspension and too heavy. Id take an Enzo any day...and a Zonda F over an Enzo...and a Veyron over a Zonda F.
I think I have said before how right Clarkson was when he described the Veyron as the Concorde of cars.
Oh and BFYB? R34 GTR please sir...

Too heavy. Defeats the purpose when that is the best aspect about Lotuses...their (lack of) weight.

Another vote for the Atom. 0-60MPH in 2.9!
Another notable for me would be the Ferrari F40. 0-60MPH in 3.2. Perhaps not the best handling car in the world but would still be so much fun.
However my top pick would have to be the Noble M400. I'd take that over a Corvette any day. Handles unbelievably and goes better the the Corvette (0-60MPH in 3.5)

HAHA pity it'll start falling apart after a yr dodgy american built car, they make big v8 engines well and thats about it.

The Atom would beat the bike on track or road probably. Slaughtered the GSX-R 600 they put up against it.
My choice though I know its not technically a supercar would be a Caterham R-500

Bugatti can no where be considered BFYB, ever.
At a sale prce of 850 000 Pounds and a manufacturing cost of 5 million pounds, imagine a repair needed for the car then, or even a service.
The worst part about it is the fact that you will have the most smallest chance ever of seeing one, let alone seenig one being driven, let alone even owning one. The bugatti will be the fastest production car to be built for many years to come.

So not sure I agree with this one. Sure the top speed might take some beating (252m/hr or 407km/h), but the 0-100 times (2.5 seconds) are already being challenged/equalled by the Saleen S7, the Viper TT, and even the Lingenfelter Z06.
The Veyron, while being an engineering masterpiece is pretty stupid when you think about it. That kind of speed can be produced with much less engineering (no real need for a 8 litre W16 quad-turbo if they werent chasing the holy figure of 1000hp). The only problem was/is the rest of the driveline couldnt hack it. The potential that engine has is HUGE if you can find running gear that wont blow up!
If you could manage to put that engine - along with a strong enough transmission - in a car that doesnt weigh as much as that thing (1600kg off the top of my head...correct me if Im wrong), light speed would be just a pedal push away.
But still, you gotta love this:
Clarkson: "That isnt so much a throttle that my right foot's on, its a hyperspace button."

luke you are sooo right

Feb 14 2006, 02:24 PM
but that's what's so good about the veyron. It is engineered in such a way that it doesn't blow up it's running gear!
I'm sure that with a few extra mods, the veyron could hack alot more and be alot faster.
You can't go past a bike though

Hayabusa Turbo 500hp. 300km wheelies is just unbeleivable!

Any of the lotus super seven replicas like the Caterham or my favourite the Westfield SEight
http://www.seight.com/IMO these are the ultimate car as long as you can give up luxuries like doors, any spare space whatsoever and you dont mind wearing a helmet or goggles while driving
There is also an aussie company that fits lotus replicas with Gen III V8's
Luke352
Feb 16 2006, 11:07 AM
Hmm the Lotus 7 reps with v8's although maybe fun they lack the acceleration of the line, dont handle as well and weigh to much which kinda destroys the point of them. A well built up 4cyl will have close to similar power as the normally stock lower powered v8's they use and weigh at least 100kgs less so u end up with similar power to weight ratios anyway. So pointless IMO.

Aussie built awesome looking sports car with a 450hp Chev LS1 and weighing only 900 kg.. 0 -100 in just over 3 sec
And not far away from being street legal
Although I saw the Pagani Zonda take off from the lights last night... Looked like alot of fun
