Hey, I want my car as louddddddddd as possible.
DD Phil says how if I had a hatchback it'd increase craploads of SPL....problem, I don't and won't be getting a hatchback.
VK meant to be in top 10 of hardest to get loud cars...
Phil was saying something about cutting some triangle shaped piece out of my back seat style of thing???
More info on that?
Any other good ideas to make it louder and make it not in top 10 hardest to get loud cars?
Also ports in parcel shelf....how big?
Will be 3515 in a big ported box with 1300wattrms as soon as this monoblock arrives.

There's no path for the energy to get into the cabin.
The only way to make one is to play choppy-chop, which may be illegal in your state.
1. Check with an engineer if you can cut out plate steel and replace it with welded-in mesh of appropriate strength.
2. Buy a CRX
3. If you must have a Commodore, buy a wagon.

in my old vk i totally removed the back seat.
went hacks with a angle grinder and took heaps of metal out. replaced with stainless steel brackets for support etc... gained a bit. also take your rear speakers out while competing to get more flow into the cabin.
just make sure its legal.
mine wasnt but wasnt detected either.

Instead of rear speakers out, how about some ports drilled into parcel shelf instead? If so what size?
So I can cut out alot of the back seat metal and do some stainless steels brackets or mesh?

If you cut your car.. it will never pass RWC!
You are in Victoria, no structural metal can be cut, and the metal behind the seats is structural.
Shop in Vic, won't even fit 6x9 (which is a good thing by my reckoning

) to the back shelf.
Basically, your only options, remove the OEM speakers and hope for the best.
Sorry!

got a weirded out idea:
sacrifice the rear seats, rip em out and build a wall if ya dead set on turning it into an SPL'r
thats what i would do if i could only get my hands on a sedan and couldnt cut out any part of the rear parcel shelf or rear seat wall of it.
but anyway its an extreme idea, and for me it would be something i would do, but thats just me LOL
and it would sure be one of the loudest then, with the right gear.
anyway cheers and good luck with it

No....it's still a daily driver.
Am wanting to add a 15" sub in placement of the middle rear seat but I'll look into that awhile from now.
Wagon isn't an option I'm talking about the car I have and am going to stay with for now

I guess you trying to turn the VK into an SPL car would be like getting a school bus to do the quater mile. It could be done but its not going to happen any time soon!
Speaking of school busses, anyone seen the oldschool yellow American schoolbus doing a wheelstand?

thats cool my cars a daily driver if i could drive it everyday. with a wall of 4 x 15s engineered of course though
but yeah with your car check with an engineer.
but what it seems you would like to do, im sure ya can somehow remove a piece of the rear seat wall and replace it with a sub enclosure as it wouldnt be a major reduction and change in the structural integrity of the car.
but check it out ya should be able to do something
1) put the enclosure so the top is nearly right against your parcel shelf.
-have 2 ports just just sticking level with the rear speakers holes.
-seal the port off round the outside of it so no air can get into the boot through these holes.
-have your sub just facing towards the rear of the car in the boot.
-the reason say have the box wedged so it right against the parcel shelf is so their is no extra length to the port.
thats 1 idea can try and ya wouldnt need to cut anything in the car.
and if its work bonus if it doesnt work then tis only a box ya have built and can build another.
cheers hope this is ok

yer. IF you look closely you can see the drag car at the back of the bus, and struts supporting the hollow frame of the "Bus" (made of something like balsa/fg)

Sooo that means he could graft a crx to the inside of an empty VK shell?

its not a real bus frame. Its something made to look like a bus, but its really lightweight.
Either that or it was a light strutcutre with a hydrualic piston at the hinge point that lifted it up, fast. theres a website out there that frame-by-frames it.

who has to konw that you cut metal out of it??? if you cut it out then put a sub box up there how is anyone going to see it?
If you put one 15inch sub in the middle of the rear seat it wont be that loud as four 15inch subs in boot.
If you put two slimline 10inch subs mounted in the parcel shelf loading off the rear window they still wont be as loud as four 15inch subs in the boot.
You should keep the subs in the boot and put all the money into better equipment. That another way of making it loud, is to run more power or subs.
Remove the rear speakers so bass can flow through the speaker holes and it should be oright.

Just wall it, or pull out the back seat and make a loading wall and fire backwards like VL_Commy did in his VL a few years ago..
You can have a walled daily drive, you just cant have a backseat passenger. Might need to check with your RTA/MRD first tho.

$1000 for one sub seems good enough for me.
My question is how to mod my VK for optimal loudness for what I've got. Like I am getting extra sub + monoblocks but I'm talking ideas like facing and etc.
Maz I was talking one 15" in middle seat aswell as the ones in the boot.
Can I mix 10" subs in parcel shelf aswell as 15"s in the boot or would that sound crap for music?

Basically he took out the back seat, covered the rear firewall with MDF, same as the floor, bolted the box onto the new false floor firing back into it. I dont have any pix, Shieldsy might. Try check the MAS 2004 photo's in the gallery, it might be in there.
Dont mix different sized subs, they'll sound like garbage and its not an efficient was to setup a system.
