Full Version: Where should I go in Sydney for the best deal on Dyns

I am interested in the Dynaudio System 240GT splits but I was quoted something like $1200 or $1400 for them.

I have three questions for anyone who can help me please:-

1) How much do these normally retail for?? (I recall someone mentioning $800 in a previous thread)

2) Where should I go in Sydney to buy Dynaudio gear at the best possible prices?

3) Finally, any idea which shops in Sydney have a good range of Dyns in their show room to listen to??

THANKS and best regards,

GABY

see ur other thread concerning best install place...
often buying products and booking an install at the same place will allow u to haggle a little on the total price paid

240GT for $1200? wtf, i think the retail is $999, i bough mine for 750 couple years back

Retail is $999 but if you cant get them for less then $900 I would be very surprised, but if you can afford to and can get around the install hassle I'd go the sys340/360 should be able to get that for $1250 or less plus there is a set of both in the for sale forum at the moment for $800 and $1000 I think. This would be definitely worth it as the 2way Dyns just sound very dull and lifeless compared to the 3ways IMO.

Thanks Luke352,

I have to stick to 2 way splits unfortunately.
I need to keep the car in factory condition which rules out 3 ways.

I appreciate your comments on the Dyns 240GT, I am sure the 3 ways are probably much better but of all the 2 way splits I have heard so far the Dyn 240GT sounds nicest to my ears.

Other 2 ways I listened to are the Boston Zs, MB Quart, Rockford Fosgate and the middle of the range Focals.

I am dying to listen to DLS and the top of the range Focals (Utopia BE and the K2P series) but I am still to find a shop in Sydney where you can audition these speakers.

thanks again Luke..

Thanks Spyne,

You are right but I tried that many years ago with top of the range expensive Nakamichi gear and ended up with electrical noise which ruined the whole idea of going high end.

I am afraid to repeat my mistake.

Thanks again and best regards ..

I'm sure you realise now that that would have been an installation issue and not an equipment issue as the Nak stuff is still sought after by many people as it's renowned for its high quality build and sound even bettering alot of more modern gear.

Hey yeah I can understand wanting to keep the car stock I was of the same opinion but decided screw it and go custom install though I am thinking of sticking to a 2 way setup Morel supremo etc.. running active which I hope should get me something close to the 3 way Dyns running passive.

Hello Winno, exactly my point which is why this time I want to go for a reputable installer as the first choice even if it means buying the gear I am after in other shops.

By the way, I would greatly appreciate your input on the following please:-

I still have some Naka gear from 13 years ago - it is in excellent condition and I am wondering whether it is good enough relative to todays stuff and so whether to use it or buy new gear instead.

Here is what I have:-

Naka SP50 5"mid woofer + Naka SP10 1" soft dome tweeter + their original Naka passive xover.
These are unused since I bought them and I don't even know what they sound like..
The foam surround on the SP50 is now gone but I can get it reconed.

I also have the Naka PA 350 amplifier ( 4 x 35 watts)

Do you have any idea how the SP50 / SP10 speaker combination sounds compared to other two way splits from Focal, Dynaudio and other of todays respected brands (as far as SQ is concerned)??

Any feedback you give me will be most appreciated.

Thanks mate

My car is a company car which I must return in original condition after 3 years - that is why custom install is out for me.

Regarding the Morel Supremos, what price range are they in?

Do you have a web site link for me to check them out? I would be interested to listen to them since you think so highly of them.

I'll have to see who stocks them in Sydney first..

Thanks again and best regards..

From memory, there are quite a few dealers who have Dynaudio on the boards.

Ring these places and see make sure before you visit:

Fhrx Studios
Fairfield Car Radio
Lifestyle
StageCo (I think?)

First three I definately know are Dynaudio dealers. Fhrx Studios also deals with Morel so you can do the old stone/bird trick.

You may also want to query if they they have at their disposal any vehicles which already have the speakers installed, as shop environs vs car environs are very different.

Get on the dog and bone and see what you can find out.

You wont get Supremo tweeters in without mod work as there a 4" OD tweeter but RRP $650 I think

WOW, 4" OD !!!! There won't be much of the dash left by the time two of these go on it.

Guys, both the DynAudio and Morel full retail pricelists are on the products page on our website. wink.gif
Luke352
Well I'm hoping to mount them in the A pillar cheap part to replace when I go to sell the car, and fairly small part compared to moding a dash or door trim.
