Hi all
Complete novice when it comes to Bluetooth etc.
Are they all the same, but just varying build quality?
Are some crap quality in terms of the mics and speaker?
Worth spending $50+ on a genuine Nokia?
Anyone had any experience with this one:

The one in the link is bluetooth 1.1. Majority of devices are using bluetooth 1.2 this gives better clarity and better connectivity (less or no drop outs!!!)
Which Nokia bluetooth are you looking at?
If it's the HS-4W make sure you have a Nokia charger, from what i've read the cost for these units have been kept down by NOT supplying a charger with them.
You also don't need to match brands, ie: you can use a motorola bluetooth headset with a nokia fone.
One thing that is an issue is compatability so before you buy check with the manufacturer of both the bluetooth headset as well as your phone manufacturer to see if its compatable. No point in getting a bluetooth headset and not being able to connect it with your phone!
I'm currently using a Plantronics Discovery 640, very good piece of kit. The actual headset weighs 8 or 9grams!!! The convenient thing about the 640 is that it can be charged using the supplied charger, Nokia, sony ericsson, motorola or siemens charger as well as from AAA batteries so you don't even needs a mains power supply to charge it. Although its on the pricey side at $150 but it's very good, call clarity is very good on both sides.
The Plantronics Voyager 510 cost $99 and its had some very good reviews as well, it doesn't have the convenience of the 640 as it can only be charged with its own supplied charger but then it's cheaper.
Have a look at www.imobile.com.au or www.cnet.com.au for some reviews.
