Okay wells! buying a car with a 10k budget smile.gif
just been looking around..car yards..on the internet and so on..and have decided a mitsubishi MR lancer would suit my needs.

now..what im posting here for is to see if anyone can make other suggestions/recommendations as to what car to purchase! Styling of the car must be pretty ''modern'' as the car will be shared with my sister.

also..know anyone who's selln a car? biggrin.gif

thanks!

p.s. will be on p's soon..so NSW restrictions apply for me..
no turbo's for me =(
AndrewK
I know that in VIC insruance for an lancer is very very pricey, stock non turbo lancer round 2k from memory...

I dunno if this is the same for NSW tho...

I cant think of any other cars that you could buy at the moment.. sorry smile.gif

oh? i've done an online quote, got 1.3k for 3rd party insurance! so not too bad i spose smile.gif
yeah..not much of a choice hey..haha
Luke352
whoa 1.3k for 3rd party have you checked other car insurance costs I think you will find lancers are expensive cause thats rediculous for third party.
Midol
My sister has a Lancer (Albiet she has quite a few significantly priced mods bumping up her insurance) and she pays just over 2k for full insurance with Just Cars.
Luke352
I'm 22 have 4 written off cars to my name, 2 good driving behavior periods my last effort was 14 points in 5 months, and i still only pay $850 a yr for full comprehensive on a New Barina soon to be Fiesta as the Barina is a write off. 1.3k crap with no driving history you've still got a better history then me LOL.
jaaason
yes..1.3 still high, but take into account age and all
there will be my sister..red p's and 1 years driving experience
me on l's lol

should 1.3k sound about right for this?..or still overpriced?

Im with AAMI, similar car to the MR Lancer.. 2 door, 1.8 litre engine, on green p's, and i pay $1400 for FULL comprehensive. In my own name.
ReMiX
Jesus christ, I'm paying 1.5k a year for the wagon .. and that includes 10k stereo, I'm 21 on my Ps.

1.3k for Third party? Tell em they are dreamin.

Personally, I'd be looking for a Civic over a Lancer.
Stooge007
Considered an N15 Pulsar?

- Stooge007 out

I agree, but you cant buy a decent boat for 10k. sad.gif

Seriously though, Do you just want to be another random in a lancer? I know i wouldnt..

There are heaps of options, A decent Pulsar SSS can be had for around 10k or an EK Civic ('99 onwards).

the car is gonna be shared with my sister unfortunately..
and pulsars or civics..any hatch for that matter
dont meet her standards
what she sees in a lancer..i don tknow. lol
Luke352
Yeah I'm in agreeance get something else probably half the reason the insurance is a bit pricey is there are so many of the things being driven by boyracers/girlracers getting smashed all the time.
mark_sudakov
have u thought about a celica 5th generation. As far as i know it appeals to the ladies. All my female cousins, theres alot, love the car.

Its cheaper, more reliable than a itsacrapi (no offense to anyone), looks really nice, all power options, can get one with a sunroof if lucky, prity fast - would probably beat a lancer, for $7-8000 u can get one in really good condition.
jaaason
had a look at the celica..
pretty nice . smile.gif
only thing is, i only like it with a certain bodykit

this one.. smile.gif
is this a widebodykit?
the rear panels certainly look fatter than usual
sk8rpnk
$16,500 is breakin the budget a little lol
jaaason
yeah...sh...
hahhaha
thinkin of gettn the car..not that particular one
and getn a custom kit to replicate that one..from say..jetspeed?
Luke352
2nd the Celica I have a mate who is a car dealer and Celicas go cheap 2nd hand as there classed as a chicks car they offered someone, $10000 for a 2000-2002 model Black sunroof fully optioned leather etc manual, consider it was a about $40000 new now thats depreciation. Auto is worth more apparently, to do with the fact chicks like em and they generally want autos.
jaaason
:|
are you serious?
10 grand for a 02 celica?!
where bouts?
must check this out.
sk8rpnk
The dealership bought it (usualy trade in or similar) so id say they will sell it for over 20 grand. Dealers make a killing in situations like that.
mark_sudakov
i rekon they keep there value prity well. Like the 1990-1993 moedls r still like $7000 average. And thats 13-16 years old car.
