Does anyone know where i can find a free dvd ripping program that converts dvds to vcd so i can burn them onto a cdr? they all seem to be trial versions?

FlaskMpg to convert to VCD
TMPGEnc to cut VCD's to fit onto CD

AFAIK all free ware

then just use nero or something to burn images out to CD...

I'm sure this is for your home made DVD collection to yeah?

thanks for that, sounds dodgy but i just want to backup my dvds and watch them rather than scratch the hell out of the originals. Where abouts do you find those programs?

www.doom9.net (or com can't remember) has all the tools + guides... you realise VCD's quality is far inferior to DVD?

yeah i know its just that all my dvds and cds seem to get the hell scratched out of them!! Will see how i go. if its crap ill just have to be more careful with my dvds

by far the easiest way to do it is to download a program called, yep you guessed it, dvd2svcd! You will also need a copy of tmpegenc to do the cutting/muxing and some burning software to put the images on cd

I use DVDx I've found this is the easiest "one step" program I've come accross.

My weapon of choice is Super DVD Ripper. It can convert DVDs into VCD, SVCD, and AVIs (DivX). Its really simple to use, too. I don't have a URL handy, but I'm sure a search on Google would reveal something .

tried dvd2vcd but my burner wouldnt recognise the mpeg file, so i ended up downloading dvd copyone platinum and found a crack for it. its as simple as pushing the button and it burns its straight to the cd.(not very legal though)!

well i encode all mine over 2cd (mainly) divx...

i use a collection of ripping tools... mainly gordian knot.

I just use SmartRipper, DVDX and normally Nero to burn it. I just use 2 CD's most of the time.

i have used most of the programs above but my burning programs Bs recorder gold which came with the sony burner wont recognise the mpeg files so it wont create a VCD. What should i do?
