hi, im running 2 type-r alpine 12 inch subs, the current 500watts rms model, on an alpine mrd-1005 monoblock. im running them inverted with no dramas now but i cant leave things alone and im doin my install again along with changing a few other things. might ask an opinion for that in a new thred.

all ppl care about around here in the tassie scene is typically 'how loud is it?' im really getting ovee that and want to run a single 10" woofer to gain better responce as i enjoy a lot of heavy metal..... go trlpplette bass kicks! and to prove that a sub doesnt have to b big to kick ur ass....

sub choices hav come down to these. let me know what u think is a better sub as far as wicked fast responce and generally goin to swiftly kick ass and what ur expiriences with them are....... not forgetting i hav a 1000rms mono block at my disposal!

-alpine type-x 10" 4Ohm DVC
or
-MTX thunder T9510-44 10" 4Ohm DVC
or
-rockford fosgate T1 10" 4Ohm DVC

or if you hav a better idea please hav ur say.

thanks for ur thoughts dudes, hav a sqizz at my install while ur wasting the broadwidth!

the boston and the ID both have good transient response, I haven't heard the DD to comment.

i've no budget, if i want it i'll buy it!

i had looked at getting a digital designs 9500 series 10" and getting a second mrd 1005 and run an amp on each coil.

do i need massive coils and heavy magnets really for SQ? is that why u sugested the 2500 x 2 tha z? i had a look at that and the 3510, the 3510 seems to b able to handle everything i dare give to it.

i had a sqiz at the 800 series alphasonik 10 subs, how do they rate or do they just look trick? where in aus can i get one and how much? im struggling so far to find them in aus.

i want the capability to still go loud. i'll hav a sqiz at the ID sub. cheers dudes keep ur ideas flowing

whats ur idea DD phil?

No i only suggested it cause it was around the price of the type x in your first post, so i was assuming that you only had a budget of around $600-$700.

For sound quality id go with
Image Dynamics IDMAX10 V.3 $749 RRP
Boston G510-4 $699 RRP
Digital Designs DD9110 $1,279 RRP

i had a look at the dd 9110, looks rather wicked! how do they rate as SQ subs, r they cabable of our doin a 500 watts rms 12 sub for example? its a big step down 4 me, but i wanna prove a 10 can haul ass!

any more ideas ppl?

Out doing a 12" how? as in loudness? or sq?

As in loudness, yes it can out do a cheaper 12" or evan 15" sub, given the right power and properly built enclosure.

As in SQ i have no idea, lol

The 3500 will take 1600Wrms all day. The 9500 is bigger and meaner again. If you're going to run more than 2000W per woofer, go 9500.

The 9100 is our dedicated SQ driver, it has a 60mm top plate for +/- 30mm linear manetic field. We ran one in our RX-8, powered by a Z1, it was very nice.

A new 9100 is on the way, the word is, it is one of the best SQ woofers ever built. It has a new cone, lighter and stronger than the kelar 9900 cone, with a new voice coil featuring an advanced type of wire and winding method.

The only bad news is, they will be around $2000ea.

If you're only running 500-1000W, a 2500 is a really great choice.

how does the OZ audio Matrix 10" stand up against these? just wondering. it seems to b popular in the 12".

tell ya what, i reakon i'll take a 9100 if u'd cut me a bit of a deal, wink wink.
probably wont b for another 4-6 weeks yet.

What about the JL 10W6V2? or the W7V2 for that matter.

the JL subs seem to be popular. with a 1000watt mono block it says there i'l void my warrantee. the only reason i want something rated higher is so i can do my amp justice, and not kill a sub!
