Hey Guys & Gals...

I have a '96 VS Commodore Series II Execuive. A couple of months ago I started on planning my system. After a lot of reserch and help from everyone on this forum...I finally bought the components and have it booked in for install...Firstly just wanna say thanks to everyone who helped me out. At the start I knew nothing and my idea of a good system was the complete opposite. Thanks to you's I now have a pretty good idea. Anyway...I have listed the components I bought and the work that is going to be carried out along with the prices...Just wanted to know what you guys think as far as how well I went with the price and what you think it will sound like...I did go way over my budget of $1500 but thats the way its gotta be sometimes hey...anyway...all of the stuff was brand new in Boxes...

Pioneer DEH-P1Y Head Deck $480
Pioneer TS-C160R Component System (Front) $265
Pioneer TS-A1681S 6" 4-Way 260W Rears $100
2 X Kenwood KFC-W3009 12" Subwoofers $176
Directed Audio (West Coast Customs) WCC-6004 4 Ch Amp $300
Directed Audio (West Coast Customs) WCC-5001 Monoblock Amp $270
Directed Audio 68110 Power Amp Kit $120
Speaker Cable $23
3 X Directed Audio Venom Series RCA Cables $60

Now for the actual Custom Boot Install...it will include

Custom Sealed Sub Box
Box Pushover Panel (Covers the gaps on the end of the box to make it look like one panel)
False Floor with amps mount flush into it on an angle
Distributor Block in centre of amps.
Installation of the actual amps.
the right side panel with some sort of special design havent figured it out yet.
and also maybe a few neons

$1000

So Total all up: $2,794

The Head Deck, Component System & Rears were all installed by my dad so I saved money there...

I hope you guys can help me out on this...I think I done pretty well with the price but you guys are the experts...

Cheers, Joe

yeh looks good aye, a mate at work got work done at an auto barn and i was skeptical (meh if wrong spelling) at first and with the budget he worked in as well as an alarm install i was very impressed. his was nothing of the budget and show room set up like yours but very nicely done. excellent work. money well spent i say.
trism

Nah wasnt me mate...ok the fire extinguihser is purely for looks only...we were thinking of other things to put in there but i thought that it would be a nice touch to have that...of course I have another extinguihser in the car itself within reach...even if you could get it out from there...it would be pointless having to run to the boot and then with fiddling it...i have one mounted sort of right below the passenger seat with a nice easy-release bracket...in case *touch wood* anything does happen...
Benjy
hey mate your custom install ya did looks really good for a DIY, keep up the good work
APS
It wasnt do it yourself it was done by an Autobarn store.

Very very neat work i must say.

Justin (Autobarn Installer) is a CAA member too ... although hasn't been on here in quite a LONG time. There's a few Autobarn's around with good installers. Trouble is, once they establish themselves they usually move on to bigger and better things smile.gif

Sorry to chime in so late, but that's a nice job - very subtle and looks like quality without being flashy. Smooth.

It's going to sound even better now that you've run the speakers in a bit. smile.gif

Cheers - OT.

Yeah thanks mate...it does sound awesome...but guess what...??? I've had it this short amount of time...and I want MORE...! lol (as if its not already enough BUT...you always want what ya haven't got they say)...I'm going to get a new sub box made so that the subs will face towards the inside of the car...then of course I will get a perspex panel in the back of the box with a nice display inside maybe with a neon and lined with vinyl with some sort of design in it...and the pushover panel will still be in place...so it will still look nice probably even better...ummmm...some sound deading will be going in...better rear speakers (Pioneer TS-D161S 2-way 260Watt 6")...Kenwood KAC-9152D Monoblock Amp & Kenwood KAC-8452 4-Channel Amp...and I will also get custom made door pods so the fronts are blasting out towards my Head...hehe...so yeah...biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif...cant wait...I'll post the pics once the work is done...If anyone wants to buy my amps or rear speakers...let me know...I have them on eBay and also advertised in the for sale section...

Cheers, Joe
