Treo SSi 10in sub

Treo is here…
After many years manufacturing sub’s in the states winning SPL comp’s here and there earning them a good name for reliable hard hitting bass they have finally arrived in Australia Via Egear pty ltd.

The SSi 10in (RRP $829.00) is what landed in my sub box for some crazy bass fun, Dual 2ohm coil’s loaded down to 1ohm of my DD M1 amp for 750wrms of power, just on the recommended amount..

This sub is visually a beast, huge magnet with a polished nickel back plate and a massive vent.
I showed the sub around to a few of “the boys” to see what they thought, a bit of a mixed reaction but most of them thought it was quite nice and beefy but the general consensus was that they would rather mount in normally cause the cone is so clean and neat, just simple black with Treo and there logo in white, Very classy.

Listening:

I have only had a short time with the SSi as my test car is about to be sold and new testing room is still yet to be built so unfortunaly I don’t think the sub was fully run in as yet, I believe Treo’s tag line “ultimate street bass” is pretty accurate, I don’t believe this is an ultimate SQ sub but with the right box and a bit of tuning I think this would be a very capable sub.

It’s rated at 750wrms and that I gave it, I found sometimes it just diddent have the output I expected of it, but with a tad more headroom and this sub would shine. (On a side note I don’t believe my amp was running properly at the time, I think this problem is fixed but it is now all been removed from the test car)
Playing “the Streets - A grand don't come for free” album had the SSi rocking with some big fat bass beats that it handled with ease.

Alicia Key’s came through just as tight and with authority.

The whole time I doubt this sub broke a sweat.

Conclusion:

This is an allround good performer and would recommend it to anyone wanting a good sounding sub with plenty of output, suited to someone who wants to be loud and different.
I would like to spend more time with this sub as I feal it has a lot more potential, maybe one day in the future ill try in out again for a little longer.

Good sub put 8k rms into mine two and did 150db from 2 not bad at all.
So ok for SPL too.

I had a good listen to one of these a couple of weeks ago and came away very impressed. To my ears it plays lower and more accurately than an Infinity Kappa Perfect 10 and also louder, and that's a sub I rate quite highly for SQ. It also blended in very well to a few different types of music I sampled while listening to it and as a result it's right at the top of my list of subs I will consider buying when I've got the cash to finish my system off later this year.
