Hey guys, I'm just after some information regarding bank debit cards. You know the ones where you can use it like a credit card, but it uses whats in your account. i.e a savings accoun t you can use to make purchases over the internet and phone.

Anyway, was looking at either the St.George or the Teacher's Credit Union cards. Anyone have any experience with either? I'm looking for something I can do internet banking with (i.e has online account management, like Commonwealth's netbank) and also no annual fee (if possible), no wirthdrawal fee (also if possible), and lastly any benefits for students.

Thanks for your replies.

I got a westpac (bank of melbourne) visa debit card, and it's good.
I need to keep at least $2k in there to avoid fees.

my gf has the st george one..no fees if she uses credit, she just has to sign...and no fees unless she tries to use it when she has no money lol.

I have Westpac one too, but never have $2k in there so get $5 monthly fee for 8 or 12 transactions and then 25c per transaction after that. It is usually about $7-$8 per month all up, i'm just too lazy to look for anything better.

definitely go Teachers Credit Union if you have access to them.

hardly charge fees for anything (even withdrawing from non-branded ATM's in pubs!)

well worth it imo
