I have had this unit in the car for about 5 months now. Overall impressions so far is excellent.

Aesthetics:

This is one sexy unit... Probably THE best looking in dash DVD player on the market (well from what I have seen). It is a dark silver colour, clean lines and things flow nicely. Small LCD display on bottom half of the unit to show track info when the screen is closed and looks like a normal CD play when closed. The angle adjustment buttons double up as te FF/RW buttons when the screen is closed.

Quality:

Everything is made with reasonably high grade materials. Nothing feels cheap. The motorised screen is smooth and nothing has ever gone wrong with it. Volume control knob is strong and solid which is excellent.

Features:

Has most features that the competition has. Would be nice to see higher voltage preouts, but not too much of a downer. Front+Rear+Sub out plus built in 4channel amp. 4 channel Time Correction, EQ etc etc. I believe the JVC has a higher spec, but this still has everything I want (I run optical cable with the PXA-H701 processor).
One of the better features of this unit is that on DVD menu's you can touch each option instead of scrolling through all with a remote to get to the option you want (ie - play, special features, language etc etc). Makes it nice and easy and quick. I also love the pulse touch feature because you always know when you have clicked on something. Don't have to rely on a beep or to see if you have actually pressed hard enough.

Installation:

Reasonably easy to install. Only bummer is the brain unit is quite large, may not fit behind your dash depending on car. I installed mine under passenger seat.

So yeah... thats about all I can think of. If you have any questions just ask.

It should be noted that the reviewer also sells this product.

Indeed, sorry, didn't know if I needed to add that. We sell Alpine products at our store.

just wondering since the line out is only 2V, i heard that you can connect IVA-D310E thru optical cable to the PDX amp, is that true? or do you need to buy separate module to connect digitally to the PDX amp?
tefu
is there a way to connect the head unit to the amp digitally (PDX amp) or do you have any other suggestion on how to create digital connection system without the PXA-H701?
John L
PDX amplifiers only have RCA level inputs for sound. The only other way to connect an IVA-D310E optically would be to one of Alpine's theatre amplifiers which then give you full control of all settings (EQ etc) from the head unit.

The 701 processor is more than enough, granted its more hands on and you need a whole lot more knowledge but if your serious about sound then its all time well spent, imo anyway smile.gif
