Hello all i have installed all my gear being,
1X Cadence mono block amp, driving 2 jl audio 12w3v2 d2 subs
1x Cadence four channel amp, driving front and rear splits also jl audio.
1 x cadence 1 farrad cap
head unit is pioneer deh-9650mp
it all sounds brilliant but am hoping to find somewhere in melbourne that can tune it all up properly as the head unit has way to many fine tuning options and filters for me to work out. Everything is fitted using good quality wire etc just need somewhere that wont charge a million bucks to tune it up and possible give me a estimated db. I want it tuned for sound quality rather than wank factor smile.gif

sound quality, then why are u interested in how many dBs it makes???

also, if u buy the Sheffield Labs cd103 (My Disc) cd, then you can use that to help tune it.
also, any good specialist car audio store will happily fine tune your system, for a price - generally about $40-$100 for 1-2hrs work.
plenty of places:
hektik
tower
stylyn
freeway
gl pro
MAD550
I wouldn't be surprised if your getting engine noise with that deck either
Fudd
and you base that on what mad550?
~Spyne~
his own poor installation perhaps?

there is not a single deck, that when installed CORRECTLY will produce engine noise

really??

there is no mention of noise, it's just a random comment that really was not needed.
Midol
I think ~Spyne~ meant that Mad550 may have installed one and got engine noise once.

Please dont insult my intelligence by claiming I have installed it incorrectly, no there is no engine noise, I have installed many in the past few years but I want this one tuned perfectly. the sub boxes are custom made to the litres required for the subs the only engine noise I have is from the worked 355 stroker under the bonnet and therfore I can handle that noise! All I asked was a simple question mad550 if I had quoted I had engine noise that would be a different story but as you would know being the INSTALLER that you are, if you get engine noise from this model of headunit I suggest you go back to school and learn where to run your cables!
SlimLim
yeah i got the same deck...whats this engine noise i'm sposed to get. is it a special feature?

anyways impure all i can say is patience my friend. I was daunted with the 13 bands at first. What i did is use the Auto EQ first. See where that detected the weakpoints in the system then worked off that. wrote it down on a piece of paper, turned it off and worked from there. Grab some songs you are familiar with. I tended to use music that had something specific that i wanted to highlight. eg. mariah carey for vocals etc.

Patience is the key. u could get it pro tuned for you but it may not be to your taste. Give it a go first and you will feel rewarded.

edit: i would turn all the boosters off such as BBE but this is subject to debate.

Hi - the Sheffield Labs disc and others can be purchased here.

In regards to tuning this system - why not just come along to a CAA meet and let some of the members have a listen, give you some feedback and possibly even help you tune it yourself. You will learn far more this way as well smile.gif

If you come along I'd be more than happy to have a look.

midol hit it on the head - my post was not aimed at u impure.

any of the mentioned stores would be fine, but if you take the time, buy the disc and do it youself - much more fun.
I have the 9650 in my Pulsar.
the auto EQ and TA in the 9650 work fine, and ten you can fiddle the settings as you learn what they do.
it's amazing how much better it sounds with the TA and EQ. Even more amazing is how much better you can do it by ear when you get used to it.
