Hey all...
Just wondering what I should do.
My alarm got set off coz this guy reversed into my car. I went out to attend to my car and the guy said that it just went off. Then I noticed 2 black marks on his bumper and there are 2 scratches and paint peeling off my bumper.
It's not that bad, but coz the guy was rude about it...sooking about how I was parking there - I wouldn't mind him coughing up. Besides he owns a Superannuation Fund company.
Any ideas?

ring your insurance company. give them his rego. the problem is now his!
its not your fault, you wont lose any no claim bonuses, or have to pay excess.

unless your on third party like me.. and had exactly the same a few weeks ago.. cept i came out.. and it was pitch black.. couldnt see any damage.. and he said he couldnt.. and then.. we had a little mis communication... and he ran off too his car.... and as i turned around he was beginning to take off.....
i had to make a police report... because he ran off... pain in the **** ... dont leave it till days later.. i got a nice big lecture for it..
anyway... get some qoutes.. im sure it wont be more than $500 more than likely he will cough it up..... and if he refuses.. i guess theres not other option than to go to the police station and make a report..
of course.. if your are covered by comprehensive insurance.. your insurer should do all the dirty work for you

If you want to make a claim then ring your insurance. Generally, with insurance policies the excess does not apply if its not your fault and you can name a 3rd party that is at fault. If you can't then excesses may apply.
You can ID the guy, but you may encounter some hassles:
- It won't be easy to prove because you didn't actually see the accident
- You may need to swear an affidavit and/or file a police report
Personally, if it happened to me, and the damage ain't that bad, I wouldn't bother too much about it. Especially since you know/see the guy around and may have to interact with him in future, not worth the bad vibes IMO. But then again, if you don't like that dude...
