The wood won't be bent, it would be joined there.
If I was going to do this, I would use fibreglass. Take the boot off, mask it up using foil and tape. I would make some speaker mounts from MDF or ply and then glass the area that you want. Then use some 3mm MDF and glue it down to make a smooth surface and glass over that, then carpet. It would be much lighter to use glass than MDF, you want to be able to lift the boot lid.

You can buy awesome pre-made fibreglass ones, available in just about any colour for under $300. They're made on the Gold Coast by a legend named Peter, he sells through many stores including Car Tunez.

Not only are they better than any timber creation, but cheaper than you could even do it yourself. A pro installer would charge around $2000 for a 2 pac boot panel, this a a fraction of the cost for just as good a result. He also does full parcel shelves, boxes and door pods.

Stazed you're cracking me up

Sounds like DDPhil has the best answer but if you're determined to do it yourself, It looks to me that the join in the MDF is covered with Plasti-bond. This would strengthen the joint and allow it to be curved the way it is.
