Has anyone purchased one of those cheap new mobiles from eBay that are shipped from Hong Kong? They seem really cheap, but what are the pros and cons? Do you get slugged by customs when its shipped to you?

some sellers declare the product as a mobile and its real value, so you get slugged by customs. Some declare the box as being filled with styrofoam
Also, you have NO warranty at all.
That can be a bad thing if its a new model phone, not so bad thing if its a tried and tested model (ie 3315 or something).

dont risk it
ebay is ripe with deals going south
and as said before you dont get a warranty
if you must get a cheap mobile, just get one second hand
probably cheaper and you can usually inspect it before buying

I won this auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...item=3039568539a few weeks back. Didn't have to pay import, phone arrived 2 days later. You just send it back to HK if there are problems.

I've purchased about 40/50 phones from the Hong Kong and only one was messed up. That was easily taken care of, I just messaged the guy on eBay and he said I can either send it back to him or send it to a service fulla in Sydney. I sent it back to him and 3 days later came a brand new phone with a HAND written apology!
Great Service.. A+++, Great eBayer, Will do.. Hmm.. Too much eBay?
