ive been out of the pc game game since highschool, so whats the latest and greatest action/adventure/rpg/shoot em up/strategy pc games out now?

whats good and whats not?
ps where should i buy from?

elder scrolls iv oblivion is out, but your gonna need a beefy graphics card to play it well. its a pretty good game, awesome graphics

Battlefield 2 combines all those elements you described.

Its single-playerable, but really warrants playing online with multiple people.

Graphics are AMAZING, any vehicle you see you can commandeer, or hang out the back of while mates are driving. The blackhawk helicopter, for instance, has a pilot, two minigun operators, and 4 other spots for people to hang their legs out the side and take potshots all day.

Squad based gameplay (anyone can make a squad) really cinches it. You can respawn on your squad leader if you go down, which makes protecting him vital.

The REAL seller, though, is the flawless in-game voice communication. As a squad leader, you can talk to your squad, AND your commander. The commander's a guy who oversee's the whole battle, can order in artillery, spy planes, supplies etc. He directs squads.

As you go, you get experience, which unlocks ranks (sargeant, etc) which unlocks new weapons/items.

The feeling of entering a capture point, and hearing a squad member scream out "tank to the west", or just barelling into a cp with a jeep full of squad mates all screaming.....it gets mad.

commander keen is pretty cool. i play it now and then.
and somedays get into the ole's doom.

Liquidity, can you only gain experience by going online? I've been playing the game for quite a few months and ive never unlocked new weapons etc...

To answer the question i agree with Liquidity here on BF2, awesome game, my comp. isnt the greatest, i run the game on the lowest graphics and is still amazing! Loads of fun!

Yea, it must be online, and with a server that supports it.

I've gone up a few ranks to Master Sergeant, and unlocked a fair few weapons.

same, i've been playin the BF series since the BF42 demo.

our clan is registered with GameArena and we are competing in that ladder with more than 100 other clans. 16v16 players.

but be warned. the game is buggy as all hell and if u take it to seriously the bugs will put u off.

Fear was fun, Doom3 I haven't finished yet, Halflife2 was fun too, Far Cry is awesome, and really tests the card's performance.
I like FPS/shoot-em-ups, btw.

Galaga, pacman, frogger, bubble bobble and rally-x. Old School coin-ops rock! I play these games as often as I can.

Seriously, depends what games you like. I didn't mind Empire at War (kind of new)

list some bugs of bf2. I havent encountered any that are a detriment to gameplay yet.

red name tag bug, blue name tag bug, tv guided missiles wont reload sometimes, reload sometimes doesnt work on some weps, guided missiles will go through solid objects like tanks sometimes, excessive amount of crashes, some supported video cards wont run BF2, lag issues with servers, squad creation bug where a server will only allow 3 squads per side instead of the normal 8 or so, PB kicks that kick u for no reason. theres a few off the top of my head. theres plenty more. and they're only the ones that i've persoonally encountered. there are entire threads that list bugs on various gaming forums.

I must be lucky. 70+ hours gaming on decent machines and i've never had one crash. The red/blue tag bug isnt really a bug, but bad design, however its also overcome-able.

u must be lucky. i had to go out and buy a complete new rig. i went from intel/ati to amd/nVidia and all that changed was the reason why it crashed.

all this talk is giving my "video" card a heart attack

as im on the laptop i can do too much gaming as its my understanding that its not too upgrade-able

although i did have shellshock nam 67 which i liked as my computer did actually support it and thats they kind of game im into....played bf1942 and didnt like the graphics but i like the look of bf2....might be worth looking into a new video card, etc

Not sure how you play it but I like sniping a few guys so I have a chance, then running in with the nades and the shotty. Never fails. Getting sick of the guys in heavy armor though... Magnum puts a stop to that but

yeah as above stazed, i play the same way...popping a couple from back a bit with the mp5 or ak, the running in with a fist full of grenades and an arm full of shotty.......yeah those guys in heavy armour take a bit, 2-shots in the head, compared with one shot in the head for the normal blokes.......

my bro got call of duty 2 and it seems pretty pimpin atm. online goes alrite too

G.R.A.W. (ghost recon advanced warfighter) just came out on pc a few weeks ago, a mate of mine has it, the graphics are absolutely stunning, especially the lighting effects
