Just wondering what your thoughts are now that they have stopped the stamps...

Do you think Subway is here for the long run? What are your general thoughts about it?

(I am looking for info for someone I know that is interested in a franchise)
nemesis
i visit a subway easy 3 sometimes more times a week (being on the road, its one of the few places i can stop at anywhere and be relatively confident in the food quality etc) - some stores still give out stamps, and i used a full card only yesterday...but eitherway, they should bring them back dirol.gif
oh and yes i think they'll be around for a while yet, but some of the smaller stores i think will likely start to dissapear, as usually happens with food chain style restaurants

I still get stamps.
TEGBOY
I love Subway.. but they need to bring back pineapple and "V" cut for all stores smile.gif
stazed
V-cut is just cutting it on an angle? Or am I missing something?
APS
No boofhead its when they cut it in a V shape load up all the ingredients and then put the cutout on top to stop bits from falling out.

Now hows my website coming along smile.gif

Don't know if everyone else has one of these but a friend of mine has just opened a quiznoz sub store where i am in bendigo.
Basically just a toasted subway with a few different flavours, but he said they are huge in the states and that's why subway started to offer toasted subs.
Stone
I didn't know they stopped the stamps... I haven't been for months as i'm trying to cut all fast food. But I think that the general public thinks it is a healthy alternative fast food so it won't have any trouble surviving considering how health conscious people are getting.

1 stamp given per 6-inch, 2 stamps given per footlong.

collect and surrender 8 stamps, buy a medium drink and get a free 6-inch.
collect and surrender 16 stamps, buy a medium drink and get a free footlong.

Basically:

Buy 8 (6-inch/footlong), get your 9th (6-inch/footlong) for $2 or so.

Definitely not worth the hassle of collecting them... except that it didn't cost you anything to do it.
CVBASS
I never used the stamps anyway.... had subway bout 15mins age biggrin.gif

Quizno's isnt as good as theres not as much choice.... and more expensive for the same thing...
SomeFReaK
i am addicted to subway, its the best take away by far (being a vego). You will get all the vego's and vegans coming in still, the stamps were a very small part of the expierience.
XHELL
I must have collected hundreds of stamps, never used one, hahahaa..
glagnar
oh dam i had a friend who worked there and got me a bunch of stamps that we whould use at different subways so his boss would not know.

I don't eat fastfood, if subway was as healthy as people think it is I would. The buns have HFCS in them which is 100% bad for you.
~Sparkles~
it tastes like plastic food subway.
glagnar
oh i hate it but im way to lazy to make my own food.
Pulse-R
prefer hungrys, red rooter or greasy falafel/yiros/souvlaki

Hmmm... interesting feedback, thanks guys!

Maybe it's just in QLD they have basically completely stopped giving out stamps. You can still hand them in in return for money off your order so like 8 stamps might get you $4 off or 4 stamps $2 off etc etc.

I guess myself and the people I know collected the stamps big time laugh.gif

What about price wise, do you think its relatively expensive going to subway for a feed rather than say macca's/kfc etc? Or is the added expense worth it in terms of fresher food?
bob
I think it's worth it. A footlong is a lot more filling than say a quater pounder with large chips. Not to mention the fat content of the Maccas, especially their chips.
I'm not a fan of having greasy fingers after eating something.

But subway has HFCS (High Frucrose Corn Syrup, if I spelt it right) which your body can't digest properly -> turns into fat -> A bitch to burn off.

Maccas we can digest properly -> burn it off before it turns into fat.

Isn't it one of those additives that prevents you from feeling satisfied after eating?

If anywhere, I thought McSh*t would use it... I'm always happy after a 6" sub.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hfcs

'High fructose corn syrup is cited by some nutritionists as a leading cause of obesity and is linked to diabetes.[1] The average American consumed 62.6 pounds (28.4 kilograms) of high fructose corn syrup in 2001, most of which came from soft drinks.

Some nutritionists and natural food advocates believe that consumption of high fructose corn syrup should be avoided due to its possible links with obesity and diabetes. Also cited as reasons to avoid HFCS are that it is highly refined, that it might be produced from genetically modified corn, that various molds found on corn might leave harmful byproducts in the final product, or that corn products in general should be avoided. [2], [3]

The over-indulgence in sugar of any form appears to be a dangerous contributor (via raised caloric intake) to the onset of obesity and type-2 (adult-onset) diabetes. Fructose in particular has been implicated, and by name association HFCS. However, there are little to no health benefits from replacing all your HFCS intake with equal parts sucrose (table sugar) since the ratio of fructose vs glucose is not overly different between the two sweeteners.

Studies have found that metabolic reactions were similar between HFCS and sucrose "in regard to fasting values of plasma glucose, insulin, leptin and ghrelin, and the body's caloric-control mechanisms." Additionaly other studies have found no differences in satiety "among subjects who drank beverages sweetened with HFCS, sucrose or aspartame, or the 1% milk." [4]

The best option for improving your health is to reduce intake of all forms of simple sugar and to get your body's fuel from complex carbohydrates.'

As far as I am aware maccas doesn't use HFCS at all - but they have enough of the other crap to make up for it.
SomeFReaK
subway is far cheaper for me, average hj's or maccas meal is ~$10, footlong at subway $7
tony_yayo
sub way i fooly sick~! dont forget to get em toasted =]

According to this web site http://www.foodfacts.info/high-fructose-corn-syrup.shtml (and I have no idea if it's true or not!) both Subway and Maccas have HFCS in their foods.

Believable - I'd hazard a guess that it is true, I'd never researched if maccas had it I just hadn't heard of it before. Used in the buns probably.

I don't eat maccas anyway so I don't have that problem smile.gif

They stopped the stamps ? Are you sure ? I still get stamps..

Holy crap!

enzo
i tell ya what a good deal is......a subway partners card......any 6 inch for $5.95 with a drink and cookie

ok now....say yeh whatever thats a whopping 50 cents off......hows this

take it in one day.....(the card says ANY 6 inch for 5.95).....and i get extra cheese.........all 30 cents worth........and they still charge me 5.95

moral of the story

use a card when it says what it says...ANY 6 inch.....ok then

try like....$10.50 worth of meatball 6 inch.....extra bacon, double cheese, double meat, extra mayo, extra southwest, tomato, extra pickles, extra olives, cucumber..plus the drink n biscuit.....for 6 bucks..........you beauty
