I was working on the fork lift at work and forgot a small length a wood in there. Lucky i remember but it took a fair bit to unjam the engine cover.

Has anyone left anything under the car bonnet while working on it. And what happened?

not my mistake but a m8 of mine left a breaker bar and socket on the crank snout when he kicked the 302c in his XY over...... it flew up, hit the roof and came down thru the windscreen......

nice one!

I was fixing a guys car that was broken down on a dirt track one day. My mate left a screw driver on the bonnet sill. So when he closed the bonnet it bent the lid.

I said well you got me on my way so i cant get you to fix that can i?

I said just push it back down (half joking) so my genius mate did it. Bent it the other way and ****ed it worse

I left a shifter in my airbox once Didnt find it till I changed the air filter LOL

thats reminds me - its take about 5 min of normal driving to make a half full Maccas sunday fall off the vinyl roof of a car.
Bradg
LMAO It also takes approximately 2 speed humps to make a stereo remote control fall off your roof and get run over by the car behind you

g'day,
when i got my new headunit, i took the old one out and put it on the bootlid of my car (sedan)as i was going to put it in the boot when i took it to my mates house to sell to him. i forgot, got in the car to go get fuel, i got to the fuel station, and was pulling out when someone stopped me and handed me the head unit, it had been sitting on the bootlid .it had survived a 10min car trip, speed bumps and all, i usually travel around 10k's over as well, how it survived i will never know.
thats my two cents.
cheers.

Found some form of spanner in my car once after I crashed it and got it repaired, thats not exciting though...

More annoying is one of my mates got his door ripped off, and when the panel beaters fixed it they have left something in behind the door panel....so it shakes like sh*t when you drive and going round corners it scrapes...so annoying!

Dad filled up the radiator in our HJ Vacationer before driving away on holidays once. Left the cap off. Car over-heated 100km's later. Also did it from Nambucca Heads heading to Grafton. Another 100km's before over-heating. A mate recently told me he had a spare keey hidden under the car drop out the other day. He's had teh car for a year and has driven from near Weipa to Perth.

This was so funny at the time..........

A mate of mine was doing some work on his XC falcon, named the "bomber" when he was leaning in under the bonnet, he dropped a huge screwdriver which shorted out the starter motor, causing the car to start to drive up the road!!!!! ( As it was in gear)
So here I am, watching this xc falcon driving up the road, with no driver, the bonnet closed except for two legs kicking madly.......

It went 40ms up the road, and has to be one of the funniest things I have ever seen.

Anyone else left the driver under the bonnet??

Cheers Kevlar

No but in a similar case - When i was working as a jackaroo we had to start an old tractor by shorting out the starter.

The starter is in a location so that you have to stand right in front of the big wheels. So its pretty important to make sure its OUT OF GEAR!

One young bloke was told not to start it on his own ever. (wasnt the smartest guy) One day we found him riding back to the sheds half hanging off his bike.

The knob had started the tractor and tried to get out of the way by jumping (when it kicked over in gear) and the 2nd set of outter wheels ran over his right foot! nice not to see.

Back in auto class in year 11, our teacher got a group of 10 guys to look under his bonnet.
He stated that he had just had a service, and was trying to talk about something, but kept being interupted for the next 5 minutes with kids grabbing all sorts of tools "look theres a spanner"
"theres another"

they were camoflaughed

he would have got like 4-5 tools if i remember correctly

At a comp we were looking under the bonnet of one of the competitors cars to check out his small stock battery, and we spotted a digi cam left under the bonnet. The guy goes 'oh, i've been looking for that for a week'.

My Brother drove from Coolum to Mooroochydore parked at the shops, drove home (about 20 minutes each way on the motorway (100km/hr plus), cat plopped out of the engine bay all exhausted, haha, poor little bastard, lived though...
