an older model MR2 is about the fastest car in that price range. other than that ur next best thing would be the cruddy old VN.
maybe a nissan EXA turbo?

Mazda FC3S RX7. 15 y.o. import rule and you'd be on the road in a scrappy model for 4500, real good one as high as 8000.
but actually you can find a lot of cheap worked rx7's about which would have a lot of go in the t/p

Trough Lolly is right on the money IMO, minus the VN Commodore. the MR2 or Exa Turbo would be your best best in that price range perhaps the VL Turbo as well. Been told they really hook.

hmmm well I'm gonna go totally different and suggest a HQ GTS 4 door Monaro - Nothing like OldSchool grunt and Good Looks to match if you ask me! You could prob find a nice one for that money.......or maybe not! Or an HQ SS, or just a plain HQ Premier with a 308 - that'll get ya movin quite nicely! But really anything old Holden would be my go, with a V8 of course. I love old cars!

Could you get a turbo 323 or ET Pulsar Turbo?

An old school MR2 will set you back around the $7000 mark minimum. My brother has one and he paid $8300 in perfect condition with low kms and that was a bargain.
Best car to look at would be the Nissan EXA Turbos, definetely worth a look see!

Yeah the TR/TS model, 93-early 96. They are the years that you would find a V6 manual (executive)
Before 93 they were all 4 cyl except for the Verada (top of the line model)
They're 120kW stock. muffler and exhaust mods will see that up to 130 easy.

yeah that sounds alright and it would be comfortable to cruise in too. it is either a vl turbo or magna.

Have you taken insurance into consideration?
A VL Turbo will go a lot quicker than a Magna with very little mods, but insurance will be around double per year

Are you sure? I've lined up one of them before and it wasnt impressive at all.
What kW are they running?

I dont know if this is right but i was thinkn that i could get the car insurared in my dads name and put me down as a user so im covered too, would this make insurance cheaper?
It can, sometimes. Im insured as 50% driver on my car, and full comp is $350 a year. Under my name, insurance would have been around the $2000 mark.
Car is a 89 Telstar
