i just got a nice 60 buck ticket today for parking in a loading zone for 2 mins.
the sign said two mins, i was only parked for around 2mins, and when i came back the mofos were placing me a ticket.
i had a nice little discussion with them and they reckon the car was away for about 5mins. can i some how get this revoked? how can they tell how long my car has been parked if they didn't do a lap then chalk the tyres like they usual do. he was saying something like my exhaust was cold, and he had a feel of my tyres and said the car had been parked for over 2mins. funny how its 30 degree temp hear in brissie and they can tell how long a car is parked just by feeling the tyres and saying the exhusat was cold...
i'm not happy, i refuse to pay this fine as i have done nothing wrong.

the offence states "contary to offcial traffic sign loading zone passengers longer than permitted maximum"
so they were concerned about the length of time my car was there, not what it was used for.

only thing you can do in that case is go to the office where it says on the ticket for payment and dispute it. Them may say that u need to do it in writting and send it to XXXX address. But u should still have 28 days total for all this.
Just explain you cant see how it is possible for them to decideby touching an exhust (who would so that) and feeling the tyres?
What if you only drove 100m and nothing got hot?

write a letter explaning your position and send it registered mail to 'att: Fines Enforcement C/O the council that is in charge of the locality you were in'
Normally they will then either revoke it simply by thinking it was a valid reason or pass it on the appeals tribunal. The appeal tribunal IMO should revoke it from what you've told us. explain that you were literally 1 minute and definately no longer than 2 minutes and that you were unloading a parcel.
i've recieved a few fines in the past because the ticket inspectors were blind and didnt see my parking ticket. they're normally quite fair about it

pay the fine or in fact it wont come out of your pocket, hahah ya mum will pay for it.
But on a serious note do the crime and pay the fine. i hate how everyone complains when they get a ticket for illegally parking an then trying to use the "i wasnt there that long" excuse. I have done courier work and it really sh1ts me the amount of people that park in loading zones for personal use. This one sounds like its for dropping people of or picking people up so why where you parked there. and if he said your exhaust was cold then you must have been there for a while cause it takes mine a while to cool down.

I'm with kramy on this one, cause i do abit of couring work on the sides and it pisses me off big time cause of d(8kheads you park in loading zones when they shouldn't. they are there for a reason and u r not the reason! if u were actually unloading/loading goods for a company etc. then fair enough but if u used it for a parking space i wish the inspector gave u a bigger fine!

who does courier work on sunday at 1pm? i was picking up passengers hence the passenger loading space i took up. it's going to get revoked. i have a feeling about this one, i'm not wrong, they were just trying to meet their daily quota and go home early, typical qld government revenue raising scheme.

seems to be atrend with labour based state governments currently, revenue, revenue and more revenue. yet they consistantly run in defecit
anywho, he was there for 2 minutes, no longer than a courier would be. on a sunday afternoon and being only there for 2 minutes i dont see a drama. neither should the council.

dont get me started on couriers!!! You guys are one of the biggest offender of parking stupidity.
(let alone the driving). Just because it says courier on the side of your car doesnt mean the laws change.

I know where you come from in regards to you parking there just for a short time, but, unfortunately the law states legislation(Traffic Rules and Regulations Act 2002) No vehicle/s except Emergency vehicles or vehicles nominated for the designated area/s shall park at a Loading Bay/Zone for the purpose of personal use.
Hey, alot of people do it and sometimes I can see why it seems to me that you were there at the wrong time. By all means contest the infringement and see how you go and hopefuly you might get off it. Only reason why I know this is because I'am a boy in the blue uniform that works for the police(one of the nice guys)
Good luck

Trough lolly untill you actually have done courier work im not going to argue with you as you have no idea.
and as for Beany man all you idiots with stereos annoy the hell out of me as you have no respect for anyone else. Its harsh to judge everyone like that dont you agree. not all couriers park stupidly. I havent had a parking infringment in the 5 years i have been working as a courier/delivery driver. Most of the decent couriers will no where and when they cant park.

A couple of more creative solutions:
Take note of the serial number and due date of the fine, find a car parked in a loading zone(with a cold exhaust) and attach the fine as a parking inspector would. On the day it is due go to pay the fine by quoting the serial number(say you lost the fine) but make up some excuse like you can't remember if you paid it or your Mum might have paid it etc. Hopefully the person whos car you put it on has already paid it.
Of course the rego won't match but people often don't check and a combination of water and an eraser can smear it sufficiently.
Alternatively, you can smear the description of the infringement and argue that you don't know what the infringement is. They can't charge you if they can't tell you what you did. However the council concerned may be able to trace the crime from the serial number but they can't in Adelaide.
Of course I don't encourage such actions and don't speak from experience.

/me waits for mods...
I mean really, considering he has a legit reason to dispute the fine, there is no reason to suggest stuff like that... (no matter how funny it may be )

"Without Prejudice"
I don't think that he's talking about parking infringements, I think he's moreso talking about the appalling behaviour of *some* couriers on our roads, and you can't dispute that.

Ben_ra23: I think you'll find that Kramy just fought fire with fire. When some one makes a claim about about couriers breaking rules.
That same type of claim that "loud stereos annoys him" is a prime example of a generalisation that was made. Obviously there are some t00ls giving us a bad by crusing around at 2am with a 130db system cranked. Same deal for couriers, considering most are professionals and value their licence and job obey rules and regualtions, althou i am sure that there is a mainority spoliing it for the rest.
Trust me, Kramy likes it loud... really fcuken loud!
Make scense?
John: Just fight it - have the people you were picking up fill in afidavits and appeal it.
