hey guys

ive got an mrd-500 which is an alpine mono block rated at 500wrms @ 2ohm...which will give me 250wrms to each sub having 2...

im wanting 10inch subs and atm the alpine type "s" has probably taken my pick but just wondering before i go ahead and buy them what others people would reccomend...

ive got a 300zx and having custom enclosures on each side of the boot, so they will be small enclosures....

also the boot is all open with the car like a hatch...and its only a 2 seater...hence why im going for 10'z as 12'z do my head in that car...lol...

im not looking to spend any more than $150-$200 a sub...weather it be second hand or new...

ive got 12inch type s subs that i might be able to swap aswell (brand new)....

thanx in advance
Stooge007
why not 1 better sub?

$400 will get you a single type-r, or IDQ, or DD25

eh i was originally going down that path, but im wanting my boot to look symetrical...its going to look funny if i have custom enclosure on one side....and plus i have targa tops so the enclosures on each side will be a guide for the targa to sit nice inbetween them...middle of boot...

was orignally going for the type r excellent combination with my amp, but unfortunatli aint gonna work for me....

have a look at the Eclipse 10" subs at around $150 each,
they will run in 0.45 Cubic feet each no worries with that much power.
they are a tight nice sounding sub for the price,
i'd probably pic those over the Type S myself.

However, a Single Type R 12" is also a option.
these are a very nice subwoofer, and can be had around or under $300 easily.

not actually sure,
cause on the eclipse website they are not there.

I think equivalent of the SW6000, but you can get them dual or single voice coil.

Check your local dealer, see what they have.

i had a speak to freeway car audio and they reccommend i go for the rockford P210S4...they are rated at 200wrms

they said that they'd beat both the type s and eclipse in both sq and loudness...

he said they also underate their products alot...

what do you guys think of these subs??? should these be the pick?

i know it falls down to personall preference but just checkin what other people out there feel...ive only ever had alpine subs, so i like when people compare with them...

how about jbl gto 10 inches, they 250watt rms, not too sure on the enclosure size, but on the jbl site they recommend 0.75cft not too sure on the price, but i know they are pretty cheap.
Chad_
for the price the rockfords are at im pretty sure there a better option then the jbl's ??

they were $200 pretty sure i can get them alot cheaper than that anyhow...

even though the type s are 300wrms they said that the rockfords will still defeat them even with the rated 200wrms....

see if you can find some older Boston Rally Series 10's

2 of them getting 250wrms ea in sealed enclosure just about hits the spot....

i personally run the rally series (bandpass atm) but will be building a sealed box for it in the next couple of weeks, and change the amp to a PPI 2240 (240rms bridged) - should be fun for my rock music biggrin.gif
Fudd
i had a rally 10in.

200wrms in a 1cft box rocked. and them subs sound soo sweet smile.gif

I'd do a 2ohm SVC, or a D4ohmVC boston 10"! very small box and sound great
