I am wondering wat 2 do i have a 12inch fussion sub (encounter 200wrms) in a ported box. I want to build my bass alot more and add more alot punch. I understand that mixing 12 and 10 inch subs is bad but if i were to use 8inch subs with the crossover set slightly higer would it sound ok. Using a sealed box. Any one with any experience or ideas tell me becasue im open 2 them.

Car`-Holden VS wagon
Hu- JVC
Front- Fusion encounter splits. (120wrms)
rear seats - Fusion 6.6inch 3 ways. (100wrms)
Sub- 12inch fusion encounter (200wrms)
Sub amp - Fusion 2ch bridged -`(200wrms)

Proposed adition
2x 8inch Fusion subs. (100wrms)
Fusion amp - (2x 100wrms)

getting more subs, of a different size will be NOWHERE near as good as selling ur current subs and sub amp, and buying new stuff, of better quality.

if you were to do this ^, what would ur budget be for new sub and amp?

Um probable atm $200 plus wateva i can sell my fusion fe-402 and fusion 12inch sub, probs around $200.

In a month around $350 plus wateva i can get 4 mine. say total $550

The project came to mind becasue i also need to fill the holes that my 6.5inch 3 ways were in becasue i am moving them 4ward into the rear kick pannels so i can actually hear them.

Maybe i should re think my entire layout.

My head unit and splits are good.

I currently have a set of 6.5 inch 3 ways and a 12 inch sub and 2 holes in the very rear of my wagon ie behind sub. what should i keep and what should i replace

Im no expert but want to learn, what would you recomend.

Assume you will have a decent sub setup later on, I reckon stronger mid-bass is the key to add more punch/attack to your system.

I have doen some more research, after reading some more, i have been able to put the plan into a way that mite make sense.

I want a system that is relatevly loud and has really good sq.

so if i had a 12" woffer playing 23hz-60hz.

2x 8" woffers playing between 55hz and 100hz.

All in the rear of the car.

6.5"3ways playing between 80hz and 22khz

and splits playing 80kh and 22khz

all of this is within the speakers range and achievable using the crossover in the amps

sorry 4 not having a clew but i want to learn not just pay money 2 have some one else set it up.

youre going to far with more is better way of thinking, find yourself a set of splits which have that midbass punch which u want, I just purchased some rainbow splits because i wanted the same thing they play hard down to 80hz which is watt i wanted. I also bought a rainbow vanadium 12" which plays awesomely below this and blends so smoothly and easily.

as far as speakers go all u need is one good set of splits(6.5) and one good sub, the far superior quality makes up for lack of size or anything like that and best of all your sound is all up front, except the subs but thats omni-directional sound anyway

Ermmmmm it'll work but it'll be firstly very costly and secondly very hard to get right. As others have said more doesnt not mean better! What you need is to leave your 6.5in 3ways where they are coz ultimately you don't want to hear them from the front. Rears are mainly for people in the back seats. Just get a better quality 12in woofer with a nice sealed boxand more power if possible.

Remember the splits give bass the definition while the sub gives it the thump. I think your fronts might need more power too so i'd get a cheap little monoblock for the sub and run the splits off the 2 channel amp. That way they have more power for them give supply more bass for you without distorting which will increase the midbass or the punch!

ok thnax.
So i am better off spending the money on dynamat in my front doors so i can run my splits harder. they sound really good just rattle the doors alot already and getting an amp 2 drive them and maybe my rears if i have the money.

Some time i might still try witht he 8" jst for the sake of wadting oney and having something 2 fiddle with to get right becase i enjoy doing that
thanks for the advice.

Go for this 8 inch beast and get it over and done with biggrin.gif

if you can not put the 8inch subs in the front of the car then it would be a total waste of money.

just add another 12inch sub tune them between 40-45hz and use a subsonicfiilter set around @30hz

this will give you the kick you need. also play around with sub to mid filtering. try between 70-120hz for the front 6.5inch and 12inch sub with different slopes (12,18,24db/oct). Live with the settings YOU like.

dynamat will make a massive difference to the midbass if you do it the right way. This will be one of the best upgrades to your midbass you could make.

What the hell is that reza, a 8" with a 15" motor? lol
Reza
That's an entry level subs from SoundSplinter, i'm using the Premium series smile.gif
jas
TC Sounds make excellent subs so this "brand" will be very good.

look at some of the subs...80db!!!!!!!!...hmmm that really scares me.

the premium subs remind me of the eclipse or audiomobile subs made by tcsounds.
Reza
You mean this AudioMobile sub?? They do look beefy as hell smile.gif
