Short story, headlight blew. need to buy some new h4's.
I ask because the stocko bulbs in the CE lancer are fairly yellow, fairly dim. Frankly, crape.
If theres something out there that will be brighten it up a little, or whiten things a little, fantastic. Budget is $100 max.
Also was thinking of a set of h3's for the foggie's to match. Any hope in hell of that coming in under $100? Never shopped for headlight bulbs before.
Suggestions people?

The best globes on the market that are legal (and OEM wattage specs(beware of some 100watt globes on market, that can cause damage to headlights))
~ Philips Blue Vision RRP$60-$70 (same light output as standard halogen globes, but a much whiter colour)
i run the h4's in my pulsar and they are great

~ i run Philips Vision Plus for my high-beam (not quite as white) and they are extremely bright for when im country night driving. RRP $35-$45 (longer & brighter beam than standard halogens, but not quite as white coloured as the blue visions.

Yes well, a h4 bulb has hi/lo beam built into it. Gotta look up my stock headlight wattage. I'm aware about the dangers of melting assemblies using wrong bulbs

Thanks for the verdict. I shall go have a look sometime.

Philips Blue Vision globes retail for $59.99 for a pair of H4 globes. Comes with two blue vision parker globes as well.
Blu vision has the same intensity and same wattage as a standard H4 but is alot brighter and whiter. White light is far easier on the eyes, and reflects of road markings and signs alot more than standard halogens as well. Your stock wattage is 60/55W, the Blue Vision are also rated the same, so no worries about any extra heat etc.

Thankyou NathR32, that was extremely clear and helpful.
They come in H3? may as well get matching sets for the foggies.
Also, know any websites that are a good resource for this sort of thing? Tried searching to no avail.
Anyone know a place in adel i can get em? I'll be doing the ring around tomorrow.

Philips Vision Plus +50% and Osram Silverstar are meant to be the better ones. The Blue Vision, Crystal Vision and all those more expensive ones only have cosmetic benefits, no extra light output.
I think the Vision Plus's are $59.95 RRP.

majority of cars are around 60/55w.
U can run 100W, if your headlights are glass, or have glass, not plastic though.

i use narva plus 50s
its not white light, its yellow
but it shines heaps far
and i think yellow light is better in adverse weather conditions, which is when your lights become more important. (ever wonder why fog lights are yellow?)
you dont get to see your own lights very often, so who cares what colour they look?

Only a berlina driver could care less about how their car looks from outside

Damn, after all these conflicting suggestions i may as well just go buy the cheapest.
So far Narva Plus 50
and philips blue vision
seem to have the best rep. Thats the first anti-narva comment i've heard on any forum or any google hits.

the white lights also make your car stick out like dogs balls at night (especially if its an earlier model), which could bring unwanted attention
yeah the only decent white lights are the xenon ones like beemers and mercs use

Those are HID's, Aka High Intensity Discharge lights. About $1k for a decent set of bulbs + ballasts, and about $300 for a new set of headlights that'll take em, for me.
Thats down the road. For now i just want to be able to drive at night

I just bought BMW projectors, ballasts, etc and am modifying some commodore headlight housing to make them fit

Still quite expensive for lights though.

If the bulbs say "for off-road or show use only" dont bother, i had rainbow 1's and 1 of them only lasted a month

is was pretty cool having a blue glow though, i'm actually suprised that i didnt get unwanted attention for them
I've got a set of blue optics or watever u like to call them, they put out a pretty white glow, i think they're autotechnica i'll go have a look tomorrow
