ok i just invested in a h701, and wat i want to know is when i get dvd capability and screens, will 5.1 affect my setup, and do i need 5.1 to playback dvd soundtracks properly??
MADTRAV
in order to get digital 5.1 your pxa will need to see a diigital (read toslink) signal, will it affect your stereo, yes and no, when given a 2 channel signal the processor will onlygive 2 channels of put (L and R), but scrolling through the menu will enable you to select Dolby pro logic, a simulated 5.1 playback.

5.1 speakers (ie: front, rear, centre, sub) is ideal for best sound quality. but you can do without a centre channel by using 'biphantom' mode, where the front L/R speakers simulate the centre channel by each playing the centre information equally.

you may want/need to retune the system for music vs DVD, or at least use the fader. in my setup, for music i 'fade' all the way to the front; with DVD, the fader is set to neutral/0. i also have a separate EQ preset for DVD to tailor the EQ for my preference. this is all do-able with the H701 too.

sorry to hijack your thread antisven, but would i be able to controm the h-701 from a w200 Headunit?

I've come from a d310 and the w200 doesn't have many control features.
HISPL
Yes the W200 will control the 701.
antisven
well this threas sure feels old, lol

Is it still thread hijacking when the thread is months old?

Dunno. How long do you need to wait to go from a HiJacker to a digger??
Pulse-R
anywhere more than 2 weeks is digging, IMO
