ok ive just installed a set of splits bymyself... however i was wodnering if it really affected the sq if i had multiple joins in my wires which i didnt solder or crimp i jsut twisted them together and taped them up.... this was done about 3 times from my speakers to crossover is this gonna affect sq badly?

from my experience in home audio it is best to run the matching pair of speakers with the same length or wire regardless!! and having cuts does effect it as u cut alot of wires to rejoin... to the untrained ear it wont be noticable.. but to a sound expert.. it wont be to its FULL potential

any particular reason it's like that?

running fresh speaker wire isn't a complicated nor expensive job.

yeh i dont know how to get the speaker wire through the grommets in the doors.... so i just connected an extra bi to get it little bit further....

not ideal, but if you're happy with the sound then that should be fine.

just make sure the join is secure and very well insulated. you don't want the speaker wires grounding on the car body wink.gif

i would recomend you solder or crimp the joins as just twisting them isn't ideal at all.

I would solder and heatshrink the joins personaly, but crimping them would be fine as long as it is done properly.

see ur main problem with that is heat and distortion. by having twisted cabling taped up, the tape will eventually fall off due to the heat the wires will produce. u will most likely get engine noises too or bad mobile phone disruption if not taped properly. if u care bout the performance, invest into some proper crimping or soldering.

Solder and heatshrink or loom tape is a necessity

rolleyes.gif Uhh dont think so mate. Speaker wires wont be producing that much heat...
Maybe be more concerned about the electrical tape holding up to the conditions around it, like moisture, vibrations and heat from being inside the door/car...

But no, not from the wires smile.gif

If your wire is getting hot, it's too dam small!

or your just buying 2 dollar shop Electrical tape.
I always try to get the BEST quality electrical tape I can get my hands on.
the cheap stuff is just a total waste of time, effort and money.
