G'day folks. I know I posted about poker before but is anyone playing in these?

Tonight I left the table coming 8th out of 50 (Had to piss so went all in against a mate so he had a better chance, he won) and there are 12 more weeks of it. If you win one, you go to regionals and if you are one of the 5 best in the venue you attend over the 12 weeks you get a spot. Regionals goes to Nationals and the winner of the nats heads to the world poker tournament in LA all expenses paid.

QLD isn't in there yet but if you're in Brisbane on the Sunshine Coast or the Gold Coast then ask and I'll post venues/days for you.

It is free entry with a $50 bar voucher for winning and other various goodies. No idea of the regionals prizes.

So far it seems the guys tend to put the $50 as a tab and the top 8 table uses it up.

Yeah, I thought it was going to be scary and it IS intimidating before you start - if ya do make sure you're good at shuffling I had to get others to shuffle for me :>

On my table (first table) I had the guy who won the week before, an ex casino security guard and dealer, and lady who taught me to card count in blackjack I beat all but the dude who won the week before.

It appeared to me the guys who claimed they had played heaps were doing it to get ya nervous. By the end though everyone is friends and you just rip on each other when you get crappy hands, it is quite fun - competitive but friendly

yeah they hold the same thing here at the Three Swallows Hotel in Bankstown
free entry and there is $15000 to the winner of the tournament its run between a few hotels and clubs in the area and the grand final is in merrylands at the coolibah hotel i played last weekend and did alright but devinchy played and came 4th out of 48 people so yeah its fun

yeah poker fever has hit australia...nearly everypub around here has a poker tournament once a week lol..

It's hitting QLD slow as hell. I've been playing online for over a year now, probably only made a few k but it is fun.

Yeah I played one round of that tournament. Lasted an hour and I was pretty happy with that since it was my 4th time ever playing...
