hey all, wanting to know if it is legal to shift the position of the brake and accel. pedals in a car?
i mean, i want to put some rather large tweeters in my kick-panel area, but being a vr commo, there really isnt the room i need with the accel pedal being so far to the right.
is it legal to make it further to the left, how is it done, who can do it, and most importantly, how much does it cost (roughly)???
thanks guys

as with any modification, if it's not a pre-approved, bolt-on part you buy, then it needs an engineers cert.
try some hot rod shops, they do all sorts of custom stuff, and usually have an engineer close by to sign it off.
I'm sure there are minimum placement requirements, much easier if it's an auto too.

im in the same situation.. as you would know, i got huge bum square tweeters that are 120mm square.. but im trying to avoid doing that..
its not hard apparently.. just gotta heat up the steel and bend the arms over slightly.. but is it worth the risk? i dont think so.. so try to work around it..

yeah, i was just sussing out if it was allowed, and how much it would cost to get it done legally...
trying to avoid it as u suggest damo, and looking for somewhere in the commo where large tweeters can be placed to achieve high stage, good depth and wide stage....
damn commos are a bastard for sq set-ups

most cars are bad for SQ - listen to the difference in staging and imaging between any good stereo at home and compare to in-car.

I dont see any risks involved with bending the accelerator and brake pedals. Just make sure you remove them from the car if you're going to get the oxy out lol.
Just check to see if you should be quenching the pedals after heating them up or not.

wouldn't natural cooling make them softer? I'd think they'd need to be cold bent - same as rules of roll cages - must be cold bent.
if so, get out the hammer and a strong vice..

Thats where quenching would maybe make a difference. But lets face it, I don't think it will be that hard to cold bend.

Quenching (cold forging) makes the steel stronger but more brittle. Id also be very weary of rod parts cause you can crystalise and crack it by heating it up especially if its 8.8 or HT rod.
