ok guys.....looking to secure a solid 2cube subbox to my floor piece

the attached image, as dodgy and quick as it may have been drawn, will sum it up easier than my words will. but basically im looking to secure it in the middle of the floor piece.

would a set of 8 smaller L brackets (two on each side face) work well enough? and could i just use ones that would be say, 17mil long rather than piercing the inside of the box, would they be long enough to grip?

just looking for a semi-workable option with regards to aesthetics. i will probably be covering the whole box and boot in black vinyl hopefully not too long after its put in........but just becuase the box is going to be sitting by its lonely in the centre of the floor, theres no option for straps or whatever.

cheers

in my car I've used latches that have a key lock, yet still hold the sub down very tight.

it means I can take it out easily when I need to.

if ur screws pierce inside the box you can always open the box and seal over the screw ends with silicone

o, and any suggestions for mounting an amp would be welcome too.....

one thing to note however is that the amp is 6mil longer than both the width and depth of the box lol

(Audiopipe GD6001)

was thinking of setting up a sort of triangle piece, with the hypotenuse side of the triangle being the, width of the amp..........(i'll attach a pic of what i mean)......and then screwing the amp to this......

any other suggestions???

u dont happen to have a pic or a link to a site that sells them do you?......i cant really picture them.....thanks for the quick response

If you dont take your box out, why not screw the box down from the inside of the box when the sub is out. It will look clean as and even 5 screws would do the trick, but put as many as you want.
enzo
yeh i've been thinking about that...may end up doing so...just open to suggestions for now

and hey.....a few self tappers to hold the whole floor piece to the body of the car would be fine yeh???

obviously not into the petrol tank...but u get what i mean...

havnt been able to find a pic of mine to explain.

although while searching for a pic, I found these which look good too.

mine are like flat hinges, except that they have a key lock so that I can remove the sub easily

almost like this, but the lock is different

o ok cheers.....the latter looks pretty cool.....cept i'd be re-orientating the piece (b x 1/2a)....if u know what i mean.......(paint all of it black of course biggrin.gif )

any more suggestions on how to lay out a whoppin amp with not much boot room?

or comments on the proposed

Do you have enough room to put it underneath the false floor with a bit of perspecs or glass over the top?

If not, maby a floating amp rack coming of the sub box?
enzo
figure out the amp mounting now....you'll see in a coupla weeks

umm.....as far as securing subbox.......i think L brackets are probably going to end up being the way we go....

have to wait and see i guess....either that or drillin it straight to the floor piece

L bracket's would have to be more secure if you put them on all for sides wouldn't they?

Self tappers through to the false floor might look neater

why not get box straps screw one end to the body of the car and then the other end to the box it unclips in the middle if you need to take it out.

A vote for Screwing from inside box thru false floor.

Pro- harder to steal, looks neater.

con- spare tyre access,no longer easy to remove.
enzo
well its either screwing through the false floor or l-brackets at this stage

removable isnt really a drama....pretty set on box design at this stage.....not planning to be a rip-up-after-each-comp-dbDrag-car so yeh.....it'll be set up nice and pretty

and neither is the false floor blocking access to the spare tyre......seeing as the tyre is being taken out and the floor being held to the body with self tappers......lol

jus had a look at ur thread Civic.......comin along nicely......the metal edges look the goods!!

but for this i think i'll probably end up going the tappers through the bottom of the floor

so there we go......cover necessary pieces of floor in vinyl and leave a hole in the centre (where the centre of the base of the box will be) to run wires under there)......cover the box in vinyl......whack it on top n screw it down

and so far have a good idea, thanks to my uncle, for mounting the amp just how i wanted it too.......tossing up the idea of a beaty board cover......but i dont think so.......i have the chunky zero guage to show off....and because i only need like a meter or two....i'll get some shiny lookin 10 guage to run to the 3512.....

anybody got anything to say about an audiopipe gd6001 being drive an 1ohm daily?

ARGH....just to finish block of uni end of semester exams first....then it'll be this full on lol
enzo
struth waiting sucks lol...ah well....progress will be rolling in a couple of days

just have one thing stuck in my mind, with harrys fast approaching, i'll be wanting to wire my sub in parallel so as to use the gd6001 to its potential

i dont need wiring diagrams, i just finished an "Introduction to Electrical Engineering" course at uni so im up enough on the theory behind all of that dont worry

just wanting to know, if there is a single piece i can use to actually hook up the cables physically, in parallel

the main positive, to the positives of each VC......and then the main negative, to the negatives of each VC...........totalling 3 wires....

i have the handy little connectors for when in series, and the sub came in the box wired in series....but yes........the 3port wire connector is what im lookin for, and havent found one in the jaycar catalogue yet

what does everyone physically actually do wire up a subwoofer in parallel?
