I got a call today on my home phone, from a lady that said that she won a dishwasher from me on Ebay, but thing is i dont have one for sale and have never sold anything on Ebay only bought stuff.

I asked her what screen name and the persons name and email address as she has been sending emails with no response i am unsure how long ago it ended.

the persons name was similar to mine as in same last name and same first letter and similar area of residence and same Internet provider aswell. the Ebay username was different to mine however, and has only been a member for a month.

So i logged onto Ebay checked my account and all seems to be ok. Sent them a msg telling them about it no response as of yet but can take upto 24hours to get a reply from them.


Now its either someone scamming someone with my name and details with a different Ebay Account or

a legit person that has just forgot too check there emails recently and just happens to have the same intials and lives near me and the lady that won used the name and searched the phone book and got my number from it as i am listed in there.

the only thing the seller said that they live in X suburb and i searched the white pages for them in taht suburb and there is only me and 1 other person but neither of us are in that exact suburb but clsoe by both about 3-4 suburbs away from it, and the seller says that in one of there current for sale items that its pick up only from X suburb.


all sounds sus too me, what else should i do?

Hey weird prob ive been selling and buying on ebay for years and not had to many probs
was the seller that had auctually listed the product using your bank details aswell do you have a similar user name aswell?

i personally dont think u have anythign to worry about just email ebay with the dishwasher sellers user name to ebay stating your worries of them using your details

now our usernames are completly different.

i got a email back from ebay customer support, although the email is from a different email then other customer support i have recieved.

and said that due too privacy rules they cannot give me details of the seller and the buyer must of got my name mixed up, if i have any concerns i should change my username.

but the wierd thing is that the person from ebay customer support has the same name as the only person that has bought something of this seller, now is that wierd or is that wierd.

yeah everything seems to be fine, i think its just a coincedence is all same initials and last name is all and live close.

i think the buyer just got the name from the ebay account and then searched the fone book.
