Hey fella's

Well a long time has passed without a system after my old one was stolen and I have finally got together the gear to install my new one. Now i need some help with configuring the set up.

HU: Alpine 9855R
Front: Dynaudio 220mkII
Front Amp option: (I have 2x Crossfire amps [4x50rms]
Rear: N/A
Sub: DD 9510
Sub Amp: Audison LRx1.400

As stated above i have 2x crossfire amps, both are 4 channels. The splits will be run active, so should i used the one 4 channel amp to run the mids and tweeters and get rid of the spare amp or should i use 1 amp for each and run the amps bridged mode, one for the mids and the other for the mids?

I won't get a chance to install and have a play around with the set-up until next week as i'm still waiting on the sub and splits to arrive but would be good to get some advice now so i can plan out the install.

Any general advice would be a appreciated too.

the midwoofers will benefit from extra power. the tweeters don't need it.

i'd suggest:
*use both crossfire amps: one for L channel, other for R channel
*bridge 2 channels to run the 5.25" midwoofer, and use one of the other remaining channels - unbridged - to run the tweeters; this way, you use only 3 of 4 channels on each amp

there are pros and cons for using the 2 crossfire amps as L/R or mid/tweeter. with L/R, it completely separates L and R channels (der!), and avoids any crosstalk or channel separation issues. midwoofer/tweeter separates the 2 frequency bandwidths into low and high, avoiding any 'steal' effect that may happen (if the midwoofers doof pretty hard, they can sap power away from the tweeter channels). both these issues are pretty minor, and you're unlikely to hear any probs.

in the future, if you run the tweeters in the kickpanels, you can run some ambient tweeters off the remaining channels.

what coils is the 9510?

if running the LRx @ 1ohm, excessive cooling is recommended wink.gif

I was thinking to do that with the mids, I just wasn't sure what would be the best thing for the tweeters.
Do you think 50rms to each tweeter will be enough power?

The coils are 2+2 and yeh will be running at 1ohm...

My mates been running his 1.400 at 1 ohm for nearly 2 years now with no cooling with no issues at all.
But I will probably take up your advice... what do you suggest in terms of cooling?

i would not have suggested it if i didn't think it was enough. rolleyes.gif tongue.gif

not only will you not need the added power of bridged, you can probably hear the drop in SQ that this brings, particularly at higher volumes. your ears are pretty sensitive to drops in quality of treble. it'll probably sound smeared and with less finesse.

lol thanks mate... will definetly take your advice on board.

I guess i can use the otehr 2 channels to run some rears or ambients later down the track.

Don't tell me the US Amps in Florida Splash were stolen?!?!
PER10D
Yes unfortunetly they were mate...

After ages of parking my car at a crapty train station out west, I park my car at a friends place in Pyrmont and stay the night only to come back to a car the next moring to find my usamps, PPI crossover and the face of my deck missing. I was gutted, not too many (if any) of those amps in Australia.

In hind sight, i should have stayed home that night... the girl wasn't worth my amps.. smile.gif
