Well after many months of wondering what happened to the bass output of my 10" Alpine Type S sub, (that has served me well for 3 year's) I took the plunge and bought a 2nd hand Focal Polyglass 27V2 from these very forums. WOW Smoooooooth! I am really amazed at how good this thing sounds, and how much power it can soak up! It is incredibly smooth, forceful, and solid and suits my listening style (everything) to a tee. It sounds great with everything!

Anyway just wanted to thank the guys that wrote the threads that I read about this subject, and for answering any questions that I had!

On a side note, I installed the sub without having to take the box out of the car, so I was working on everything in the boot. I took the Focal out of the packing box and installed it into the car and put the old Alpine sub in the packing box, which was right behind the car. After doing some tuning and having a good listen for about 30 mins, I went inside to get some things as I was going out. When I came back outside I forgot that I left the packing box on the ground behind the car and reversed over it. They have a pretty strong basket but it wasn't enough to stop a 1200kg wrx from moving unfortunately. So I will have to pull it apart and see what went wrong... and take some pics!

Yea it acutally got jammed between the kerb and the rear diff. I was wondering why the car wasn't rolling back down the kerb for a sec before I realised. Pretty funny really.... Lucky I wasn't planning on getting it rewound or anything stupid.

Maybe tonight, I didn't get time last night and I am going out again tonight. But I will definately get some up. Anyone know how to non destructively (figuratively speaking) pull a sub apart?

Ok this is what happens when you run over a sub:

The hard part that squished the sub

Squished Alpine Type S

Gordo!

Well I got around to pulling the driver apart to see what was causing problems. I figured that I must have damaged the sub mechanically as it was still producing output, just not very much. Although there was quite a bit of scratchy noises coming from it. Anyway here are the pics:

The Type S has 2 spider's and it appeared that the second one wasn't attached to the pole at all.

This, I'm guessing is what was causing the scratching noise. Looks like the spider separated from the pole piece which would have lead to a lot less control of the driver causing it to pole. Which bent this little bit over.
