Cartunez Mazda 323 158.8 on lab
Incar Excel 158s on lab

I also imagine the GO APE mirage does ok, DD Phil will know.

Thats the only ones I can think of.

dam didnt realise the SS cars would passed for rego with the amount of batts in them LOL dam thats loud LOL.

i was thinking maybe 153 or something like that LOL
DD Phil
GO APE did 161.7 on the old Termpro meter, I'd guess 156/7 on Termlab.

Cartunez 323 at 158.8 is registered and street legal, it has no body mods or batteries underneath etc.

It will do 160+ at the next comp. smile.gif

what about the car from NSW ?(in car- i think)
It's a little hyundai excel with 4 x 18" solo barics in it.
that does something like 160?
That's the loudest legal that i was told about.
Good question for Angelo to answer.

The other question i would ask is, which of these cars are vehicle's that you could drive everyday??

I mean, having a box with four wheels that has a number plate on it doesnt really mean its "Street legal". Don't take this the wrong way, im not knocking anyone. I get a good laugh every time i see brad behind the wheel of the 323.....

Are there cars out there that are doing big numbers ie 155+, that you would be comfortable driving through a roadside defect station??

Woody

I beleive that as Phil said Brads Mazda and yes for sure the Incar Excel and Go ape mirage would have to be the cars i would have thought that would be comfortable driving through a defect station...

Although Transport departments vary from state - state so it would depend on wether the cars have been re-registered as 2 seaters or not too.....
BlackIce
I drive mine everyday, and been over the defect pits a number of times without fault wink.gif

The loudest that SS3-4 Excel has run is 158.8 when it equalled our 323 at the 2005 Gold Coast Autosalon.

Mind you, we had two 15s and four old Fusion amps, vs their four square 18s and sixteen amps.

As for legallity, our 323 is registered and has a mod-plate for the two seat conversion. Brad and I have driven it for as much as an hour to get to a show (we're both 6'3"+), we intend on driving to Bundeburg and to Wagga this year.

The 323 has no body mods, no batteries hanging under the car etc.

It now has 18s, and we're just waiting on the 16V Kinetiks and Z2s, 160 will be a cake-walk. smile.gif

Does this mean that Kinetiks are in australia now and we can buy them.
Michae1
Dont think they are in OZ yet, not to far away though from what I hear.
DD Phil
I'm waiting too. smile.gif

A flat wall isnt "street legal"

Loudest 'legal' car would be Lisas Barina I reckon.

I've had this conversation several times now with several people from different automotive areas.

At this point in time, a wall in a car is actually legal. The only three main concerns are body modification, seating capacity modification and vision.

My arguement was that you needed a rear vision mirror inside the car but after further research, the only requirement is for TWO rear vision mirrors regardless of location.

Secondly, as long as there are no body modifications, again, everything is legal. Internal changes can be made as long as they dont effect the chassis or body of the vehicle. Although, there has been some issues raised about vehicle weight.

Thirdly, and probably the biggest issue, if you wall a car that comes standard with rear seats and is classed as a four or five seat car, then modification approvals have to be made for a change of seating capacity. I would be interested to find out if any of the cars have this modification approval.

In the end, none of this really matters as long as the transport oficer is willing to pass the car on a roadworthy. thats all that counts in the end.

Could be interesting to debate this further though.....

II've owned several (and built many more) walled cars.

In Qld, all you need is a mod plate to convert to a two seater.

As my Engineer told me "you can carry what ever you want in the back of your car".

As for rear view mirrors, a lot of vans, trucks etc only have side mirrors also.

if its absolutly nessasery to have a rear view mirror inside the car you get get a screen that clips over your original rear view mirror and has a small camera that mounts somewhere on the bak of ur car.the screen that clips on the rear view mirror also has a mirrored finish so if needed you can use it as a normal rear view mirror.
Woody
My point was that.. as long as there's 2 mirrors that face rearward (inside or outside the car) then its legal.

Unless you get a permit for removing rear seats , which in WA you cant unless its a a group N rally car then it would be illegal to fit the flat wall.
Not that you would probably ever worry about it but that wasnt the question asked initially.

Hey I had 1 for ages and have built many , Im not against them but there not street legal IMO.

What phil said above is correct in queensland.
I have a E36 BMW with a wall of 8 15"s. I have left and right mirrors and a engineers modplate for the removal of the back seats. My car is now registered as a 2 seater in QLD. I will be re-registering my car in NSW and I have been informed by Consulmotive (NSW RTA accredited engineers) that the rules regarding the wall are the samein NSW as QLD. Pity he does not share the same thoughts about the shaved door handles and the 19x10" wheels on the back.
SAS
i know its a bit late but the kinetik batteries will be in oz late august.

you can actually paint the back window of a ute-not sure about sedans etc tho.

this is also like the fastest "street" car like bresciani's vl-panic. its registered, but not legal- there is a difference. you vcan register any car then go and change everything on and in it and its still registered till you get caught.

not to sure on most laws in other states

for NSW a engineers report for a walled car does the job
