I'm about to start paying board at home, and I need to get an idea of what other young people are paying out there

Just give us a quick rundown of your a/s/l, how much you pay a week/month and what you are entitled to.

cheers

Zero in board.

But pay about 50% of bills like utilities.
TUN35
$30 a week. Agreed to 10% of my pay with the olds. Hopefully be able to renegoicate (or however you spell it) when i move into my new position later in the yr.

I used to pay $80 a week ($160f/n) and that was to cover my food, internet, etc.. but then again my parents like to rip people off, so no wonder i stopped paying board and moved out after a couple of months
Flipmo
about twenty bucks a week to me old man,
But we just shell out between us for the rest like milk, smokes, piss, etc etc

it would be more, but niether me or him is there very often. thats why its not more

Gawd dayyum...

Do you all live on easy avenue or something.
For me it's:

$60 per week
Some food included (parentals SUCK at food shopping, I better re-educate)
Quarterly contribution to Energex
Lawn mowed when reqd
Parentals vehicle washed, vacc'd weekly

I spose I do earn a fulltime wage
Rattlehead
I pay nothing in the house.
Weezer
i pay $75 a week plus part of the phone bill whenever it comes...and do odd jobs

so...anyone in brisbane wanna move out with me into the city/valley? im nice and dont smell or anything
Slider
hehe, i've got a great deal
10% of my before tax total. so when I was earning $1500 a week i paid $150 a week board, but now I dont earn anything I pay $0! and they still pay for food.
Blitz
when i was living at home i payed $75 per week.. only extra i paid for was my internet account.

from when i turned 17 till when my dad moved back to england (and turned the house over to me) IIRC i was paying $50/fortnight, but that was 2/3rds of my youth allowance, but still no biggie, back when i was 17, $100 was a crapload of money.........

[Edit] back when i was 17.... god that makes me feel old...... it was also before i had experienced the joys of rent, bills, rego, fuel, insurance, shopping and debt collectors.......

I'm on $50 a week...And that includes food and laundry service
But I usually work nights (and sleep all day), so i rarely eat at home

So its safe to say the average rate is somewhere between $45-$65? It would be interesting to see if that actually covered all utilities used and food etc
Macca
20yo Male

$290 a fornight

+fone each money

each quater
$50 net
+Gas
+Electricty

i buy all ma own food ect

oh wait im living out a home
clueless
My parents sometimes take in people with nowhere else to live, we charge them $100 a week, all food utilities etc included and that seems a pretty fair deal.

Don't pay board.. Brother is 23 and he don't pay board.. Lucky I guess.. That includes unlimited internet, phone, car use, cable TV, food.. I swear I'm on easy street at the moment.. But I'm taking it for granted.. I should start doing my fair share of work instead of sleeping till 5pm everyday..

I pay only $35 a week, very lucky i am considering i'm 21 and i get cable internet, all food etc, no chores.

And the money is going into a savings account for when i move out so i'm not really paying anything... very lucky!

Im 19, and paying $50 a week .. plus $200 a week for my car.. Working on average 38 hours a week, somtimes less and more.

Starting tafe this year, so im not sure how that will end up.

Used to pay between $60 and $90 a week, I forget which. I paid for internet and my own bills though like mobile etc.
Twas good, managed to save up the $12k cash for my MX6 in 9 months, living at home rocks for saving money! Now that I have moved out I barely manage to pay the bills

I think that is an excellent idea. Parents should be teaching their kids about savings and this is an excellent way to go about doing it. I am personally against paying board, but this seems like an excellent compromise, and gives you some financial backing when you move out and say, want to buy a house of your own or something.

Just my $0.02

Cheers...Mitch
