Back in the day it would allow for automatic scrolling in DOS based word processors. These days, much like the PAUSE button, it doesnt do much.
Pause works in some games 
It can be used in Excel. Hit scroll lock, then use your arrow keys and see what happens!!
Scroll lock = useful in Excel, and much like my spinal fluid, I coudln't live without it.
