Hey
i was just curious i have a massive roll of foam insulation for the home. the stuff you put under the timber floors of the house.
i was wondering if it is possible to use that in the car under the carpet?? or is there something bad associated with doing that? if it is ok, how would i use it to stick under there? using spray glue?doubl side tape or just big tape at the perimeters?

I think once its down it wont move under the carpet. The underfelt is not usually stuck down either.
Hint: Use your carpet underfelt as a template, it has cuts & holes in all the right places to make it "sit" in the right spot.

NP, but you should be aware it may not be as effective as dedicated sound deadener like Dynamat.
The rubber underlay is primarily a moisture barrier and impact damper (eg makes the floor "softer" under foot) not too sure of it's sound deadening qualities.

If you know the manufacturer and material name, try googling a spec sheet for it (eg CSIRO). Might give you some figures regarding sound absorbancy etc. You could compare that to the spec sheet for Dynamat and see if the underlay comes close.

yes i know for sure its jsut foam thats why
but i got spare time to come soon. and alot of it so maybe double it up under the carpet, will reduce something.
