Its NA? Then it sounds like crap. No non-turbo car with a cannon sounds good.

hehehe c'mon brady! I've sure heard some nice sounds being put out of N/A cars.
Not entirely sure about the Mazda's but I can vouch for the 2.0 VTEC Civic engines which sound insane with a cannon.
Btw, if you want a cannon. Don't go for the $99 buck el-cheapo Autotechnica ones from Autobarn and the like. Go to a specialist exhause retailer.

don't bother with a canon on a 626.
i've got a 626 wagon, and it sounds fantastically better, and all i did was to put on a 2" straight through, with a single 2 1/4" dump pipe at the rear!
breaths better, accelerates better, and sounds fantastic.

All a Cannon will do is make the inside of your car drown like crazy, have to put another ten layers of sound deadening down. Also cannons provide too much free air and you lose all back pressure. This may make good results on a dyno but kills your mid range, a majority of acceleration happens in the mid range (proved this on my MY99 WRX). Just do as mad_bison pointed out, that way you increase performance, get a nice sound and also stay out of the attention of defect weilding coppers - all for the price it would cost you just for the cannon.

I put a canon on my 89 Telstar 2lt when I had it. Am I ashamed of that phase? yes.
It sounds like absolute crap, not to mention how much louder and more annoying it made things. I ended up going back to a stock rear muffler. Coz lets face it, its hardly a performance car.

I think a cannon style muffler can go on any car and sound good PROVIDED you get the right size, shape, packing, etc., N/A or not.
Everone seems to want an Autotechnia with a 5 inch barrel and a 4 inch tip...... on their bog stock Excel!

believe me when i say...unless you've done a lot of work to it...go the straight through.
you know my thoughts already..so trust them.
i can take a vid of my car, so you can hear the sound and see the exhaust if you want?

do you want it for the "bling/rice" factor...sorry there would be no other reason
as it has already been said it will probably hinder the performance of your car, make it sound gay and make people laugh at you....i know i laugh at "most" people with cannons

be much better off finding out what is suited to your car and going from there...and chances are you might get something that will increase you performance a little bit

If you think boomy, drone-y and farty sounds nice, then yeah. It'll sound nice. I had a TX5 turbo with a simple 2 inch - which sounded nice. No need for milo can BS.

Er....a n/a engine loses torque the less restriction you have in the exhaust, but you gain top-end power.
This really does NOT suit street driving, at all.
You'd only *ever* go a "straight-through" for two reasons
1) You like defects
2) You have other supporting mods (intake, headers, cams).
oh, and
3) that video proves nothing. Plenty of craphouse exhausts sound fine revving, its when your under load they fall down.

i have a CAI, i have headers, and i have a straight through exhaust

i also have NO defects lol
i also have AIT (advanced ignition timing), and a few other things.
