Ok so im looking at buying a car but cant decide what to get. Its driving me insane lol. Dad wants me to get a Toyota (coz they are so reliable and he can fix them blah blah) but...I cant find a Toyota I like the look of. So...I love this site and wanted to ask you guys what you think would be a good car for a 21 year old girl with a budget of around $5000. Im not huge on the "nanna cars", like the hatch backs and little cars girls get when they first get their licence BUT if I can make it look good, then im happy with anything lol.

I was hoping to get something for like $3000 - $4000 then spend the rest on a decend cd player and such. Hopefully even a carputer! lol. But if I have to spend the $5000 straight out, I can always save and get other cool stuff later smile.gif

But yes, if you guys could recomened some cool cars, I would love you forever smile.gif

What about one of the older Suzuki swifts ?

I've heard they are pretty ok to drive and have a decently tunable engine as well as getting all the aftermarket parts for them !

Also I don't think they would be to bad on the fuel side being a 1.3.

Ford Laser TX3 Turbo AWD version or if not FWD but probably not in your price range for something reliable.

You can love me now ! wink.gif

swifts HAMMER. not hard to break traction in second gear (albeit, going around a roundabout).

on second thoughts, can you drive? do you want a comfy cruiser (air con, p/steer) or something that will hammer.

swifts, while being a LOT of fun, arent the most comfortable things, a bit noisey, and generally dont have p/steer etc.

what about an N14 nissan pulsar Q with the SR20. i've had one for 3 months and it hasnt missed a beat and i drive it pretty hard.
not too bad on fuel either

should be able to pick one up for $5k or under.

a nice set of rims and lowering will make it a good cruiser.

Early 90's Civic's. They're a great shape and plenty of aftermarket parts for it for you to rice it up if the need arises.
telfer
as said above , or just buy a commodore biggrin.gif because falcons break down hahahahah tongue.gif

Bec, I've killed a few Toyotas in my time so I won't say they're THAT reliable. tongue.gif

A 4age 'rolla might be an option, though some might have been flogged by past owners.

IMO It's hard to go past an sr20-equipped Pulsar for a small car... or *maybe* an older n13 Pulsar, they're p*ss-easy to work on if your dad doesn't mind helping.

A Civic might be better if you're going down the ricer path. rofl.gif

It's a Toyota!

They only want $2900 for it

In Sydney, but you should be able to freight it and fix the very minor things wrong with it well under budget.

LOL!, no?

Another one that's right on your budget and (I think) is HAWT is what I drive, a Nissan NX coupe.
I love mine tongue.gif, never have any trouble with it and it's good on fuel.
Sexy little car, SR20DE engine, targa top, what more could you want?
NOT a granny-mobile!
Keep an eye out.

I wouljd be looking at a 4age powered corolla say an ae93 sx corolla.
the orange one is very very cheap if you into that kind of thing?
heres a picture of the hatch version of the car. which i think looks much nicer... hence why i own it!
20v

You would be looking at around 4-5 grand for one is good condition. altho every now and again cheap ones come up around the 2.8-4 range.
also the 20v silvertop motor in that orange one toyota rates at 164hp. altho is is no where near there and more around the 140 mark. still a fair bit of grunt.

the 16v 4age are rated at 100kw. which is about the 130hp mark.

it's a toyota looks great and are fairly reliable and plenty of parts around for them.

another vote for the AE92 corolla...

search for models between 1990-1994

Know plenty of people with these and love them.
What are the laws on new drivers and turbo's though?
mooingchicken
no laws...(well not in qld anyway)

Not here in Tassie either, but I know there's at least one state that does.
SPL_Lancer
Yeah, NSW. No turbo, V8, supercharged, or moddified engines if you are on your p's. sad.gif

Yeah, how many P plater's do you see still driving 8's and turbo's? I see heaps!

They just have to pay a fee to the RTA to let them drive it. At the end of the day, safety on the roads is one thing, but the NSW gov't also find ways to make money! GRR!
SPL_Lancer
Realy? I thought you were allowed to drive them ONLY if you owned one before all the new rules came in.
mad89
yeh but apparently u can apply for an "exemption" if like ur parents own a V8, and thats the only car available to u or some BS...

i think u can still get an "exemption form" anyways, and apply for it with ur own car...

thered be a loophole in it somewhere for sure..tongue.gif
