ok heres the deal,

I have a small Precision Audio amp thats 4x75watts. at the moment im running my rear speakers from an amp that im gonna use to power a sub as of tomoro. so i wanna use this amp to power my two rears, 75 watts to each.

so heres the dilemna!!!!!! the amp is quite old, so the power wire, ground wire, remote and spkrs all come from one harness, and they are all 18awg wires (pic below!) . So i dont know how to wire in the power and ground. everything i read seems to suggest that i should be using 8awg for the wires to run the 150watts (combined) to the two speakers. but surely the amp can survive with the 18awg or it wouldnt have been built like this??

can i just run the 18awg straight to the battery's +ve with an inline fuse? wat fuse size do i use? any other issues that come to peoples minds??

any help would be great!!

Use a terminal strip and connect all the wires from the amplifier to it.

Since you are running two amplifiers, are you running power wires from the battery to the boot? If so read the fuse ratings on both amplifiers and add them up. Get wire and a fuse that will suit these. Look here http://www.caraudioaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=42643.

Since the 18ga wire from the amp is so small it shouldn't make to much of a difference considering the fuse in the amplifier is 10amps (I think).

im not quite sure i follow,

wats a terminal strip? yes im running a jaycar amp at the moment so there's 8awg power cable running to the boot, it has a 60amp fuse like u find in those normal amp wiring kits. so you think it would be possible t run the 18awg wire all the way to the battery for the power? i was thinking id do that then just have say a 10-15amp inline fuse?? would that be able to hold up with the power? or will i fry everything running such a small gauge wire??

sorry, still quite confused, thanks for the help so far tho.

bump??

Well sorry that I confused you, but you don't need a terminal strip, but it would make it all easier. Look here http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?I...=&SUBCATID= They allow two wires to be easily connected using screws.

To wire it up, connect it, along with the other amp to the 8ga wire in the boot, so basically connect two wires to the 8ga in the boot and connect them to the two amps. Get what I'm saying?
